rats.

on my monitor the first stock for a long time has been angm and the second ar.

I look today and the second stock on my monitor is up 12p!!!

But only because they have finally got round to removing angm following its suspension, not because of some rapid gain for ar.

but just for a moment....

Interesting after looking so unloved for days if not weeks we have a few buyers coming in......not huge buys but decent buys and the MM's have pushed us up.

The lack of interest in AR. does astound me as up to now, I know that could change, the company has done what it said it would do and continues to produce gold has money rolling in paying a dividend.....I know not high....and prospects of increased recourses.

Another day with little interest.

That is quite often the case from a mm on both bid and offer but apparently not bid on SETS today.
However, the offer is quite firm at 54p - no mm discounting - probably a good sign, I suppose.

I just had a look Boadicea and could have got a bid over 52p.....still somewhat a wide spread but not quite so bad.

Buyers willing to pay up to 54.25p this morning but only 51p bid on the book leading to a wide spread.

At expected average all-in cash costs of US$850/oz over the next three years, Archipelago remains the lowest cost producer that Canaccord monitors, positioning it well to weather the recent weakness in gold/silver markets.

If prevailing spot prices are maintained, the broker says the miner should turn net cash positive by mid 2013 and will generate cumulative free cash flow of US$160mln in three years to 2015.

"This means that the company will be able to repay debts, continue paying dividends, as well as finance growth internally.

The broker maintained its buy rating and 68p/share target price.

House broker Liberum added that to be able to secure refinancing in the current environment at a cost of financing said to be comparable to existing rate of 5.75% is indicative of the company's quality.

I would have thought it is very likely they have an "eye" to build the company I can't see any other reason they should want the cash.

juju - That was my first reaction too!
It is useful to have a longer time horizon to available finance but, given the positive cash flow that should be in prospect for the next few years, it came as a bit of a surprise and one wonders whether it was really needed for a 'steady as she goes' operation.

It has Yorgi yet somehow gold shares have missed out on a stunning bull run in the wider market. I have invested in PEtrofac and expect it to reocover over the next 12 months. Good luck here!

I can understand Sivlerfern :-)

MML in particular has been painful. At least AR. has held up reasonably well.

I have sold, entirely for market reasons. I had a small holding in MML and that was getting smaller so I am out there too.If gold pushes to 1525 again I will reinvest. Sorry chaps, thanks for all the intelligent comments on this thread!

Very true Boadicea I agree :-)

As you mentioned MML that is looking way oversold now I would say. Getting back to AR. they have consistently come up to expectations and so far not slipped up. Apparently there is a bullish article on gold in Money Week this week although I have not seen it myself. I suspect it could be by the same guy who gave a talk on gold at the Mi show a few weeks ago. He was very bullish on gold and writes for Money Week but I can't recall his name at the moment. To use someone else quote from today :

"Gold is not dead it is just sleeping"

Probably of little practical consequence but I have just noted that AR. (mcap £296.3M) has now overtaken MML (mcap £293.7M) at today's closing mid-price.

We may fret at the meagre recognition given in share price terms to the achievements of AR but should not forget that it exhibits one of the most resilient recent performances in its market sector.... and deservedly so.

Disappointing to see continued weakness in the share price despite everything that has gone to plan and the POG not died like those over the pond wanted.

I would think that Marcus Engelbrecht resigning may be partly to blame but there is in my view nothing to be of concern in this other than he wishes to move onto a new challenge.
