MD&M West is on this week in California. According to the last RNS, Bill Brown and David Richmond (RUA Medical) will be there, hopefully packing in a few meetings with majors and other useful industry people and, who knows, getting some deals done?

Sadly, that is probably the case, Stig. Even those that do wade in shallower waters, such as Miton, have proved themselves to be naked when the tide goes out, as Warren Buffett is apt to say.

I believe that Bill Brown is as frustrated as any of us. He is acutely aware of the lack of publicity surrounding Aortech currently and is looking to do something about it.

One day, Rodders, they will all be chasing the shares and we can all say, told ya so!

I agree. Mkt. cap is too small and we don't want another Miton situation. Better option would be to attract more HNWIs who will treat it more like private equity.

I doubt in a post Woodford era any IIs will be too keen to look at any sub £100m illiquid UK bio or med tech co.

I've followed equity markets for 26 years. Very few times have I read a statement accompanying results as confident and exciting as that delivered by Bill Brown late last year. The broker should be looking to widen the institutional list and that should help to get the shares running IMO.

Reference posts 3204 and 3206 about Resonetics/Medibrane, I see that today, Resonetics just published this tweet:

“Visit our #innovation booth, #1689 at MD&M West to learn about Resonetics' innovations and our partnership with Medibrane!
We combine our parts & Medibrane sutureless coating to innovate next generation stents for the #medicaldevice industry.

Tesla Motors has gone up about 500% in the last 12 months (from its low). It seems to me we should aim to do the same... This company should be able to pull a huge rise off - if anyone one can.

RUA Medical, AOR’s partner in development of its grafts and patches devices, doesn’t usually do much with its website but I note that it has updated its key team members’ CV’s with much more detail than before so it makes clear to readers the expertise on hand there which Aortech is directly leveraging and, ultimately, paying for. It is impressive expertise:

They have also published the Aortech RNS from last week highlighting the extension to the relationship. The fourth item of news there in four years!

To my mind, this is a conscious effort being made by RUA Medical realising that many medical device companies are likely to be paying a visit to their website in the near future given recent enquiries that have been made (see recent Aortech RNS) and that may follow once Aortech and RUA Medical’s joint visit to MD&M West is over next week in California.

I know that Bill Brown is excited by the possibilities opened up by the Medibrane connections and it seems reasonable to me to look at its main investor, Resonetics, since they are looking to combine Medibrane’s polymer expertise with Resonetics’ nitinol products, if the press releases are to be believed.

With Medibrane now looking to design Elast-Eon into some of their own products, it seems to follow that Aortech may get a solid boost in licence royalties in the longer run. That’s my thinking anyway.

Talking of MD&M West, I note that Resonetics Inc will be there at two booths. Recall that Resonetics is a major investor in Medibrane of Israel, the company that Aortech recently signed up to a licensing deal and which Bill Brown described in a recent update as a “very important licensing deal”. It is possible that the Resonetics connection opens up a few pathways to business given that it is a US company in the device space itself invested in by a specialised Med-Tech investment company, Regatta Medical.

“ MD&M West 2020 is only 2 weeks away! If you are attending, make sure to stop by and see us at booths 2346 and 1689. See you in Anaheim!

As referred to in the recent RNS, Aortech will be at the biggest medical device expo in the US/world from 11th February, MD&M West. Biomerics LLC (Aortech’s specialist polymer manufacturer), will also be there, as someuwin posted a few posts back (3188), so I think it is worth re-posting this tweet from Biomerics from October because it certainly suggests there is ample scope for business between the two of them and countless major device companies Stateside, all of whom will also be there:

“Biomerics is proud to be an official partner of AorTech Inter PLC and manufacturer for the Elast-Eon and ECSil product line for long-term implantable co-polymers. #polymers #medtech #alternativetosilicone #health #engineering #manufacturing ow.ly/kky430pJBcB”

Seems that a third hospital in the USA has started human implants of a Tria Valve this month. Would suggest the previous implants are working fine to date! Not sure how many valves altogether have gone in so far.

As Aortech have already said, the fact that this trial in humans has been permitted by the FDA, opens the way for an Elast-Eon version to be finalised and eventually put forward for human trials knowing that the FDA has a pathway already agreed for polymer valve testing.

That is a valid point Stig. I can’t recall previous year displays but good to see the prominence of Quadra.

Well gee I dunno but going to a major tradeshow with 'Quadra' emblazoned on your Corporate Graphics seems a big hint to me that they're pushing it? Not aware of them giving it that prominence before ?

We’ve had the recent tweet, but is there anything else from them in the last year?

The main thing, I guess, is that the assumption is that Biomerics are receiving enquiries from device OEM’s and maybe that is feeding into the enquiries coming to Aortech?

Hopefully, the beginning of a rolling snowball.
