Something afoot here. |
Mike Henry could have been in South Africa for a number of reasons l hope he doesn’t bid for AAL TOO EXPENSIVE other miners could be on his Radar |
I seem to have missed this news from the 8th October. He obviously didn't think a bid was coming but perhaps whoever he sold them to did.

I wrote recently here that with the China stimulus news / lift in miners this could happen.
Fingers crossed there is something in it and a deal can happen at 2800+
Good luck all 👍🏻 |
Overview - BHP CEO Mike Henry met government officials in South Africa last week, fuelling speculation that the Australian miner will resurrect its failed 39 billion pounds ($50.65 billion) bid for Johannesburg-based rival Anglo American .
Now why would he do that? |
"BHP chief sparks fresh Anglo bid speculation after South Africa trip."
From the Financial Times. I don't have a subscription so I can only report the headline. |
IMO... Going on basics ,the developed and emerging worlds are all in need of lack of infrastructure spending .Whether it's power cables to new build or the great big turbines for green energy or other type, all need COPPER ,is there another product? |
BHP WILL NOT WANT AFRICAN ASSETS AND MAY OFFER A LOWER PRICE ALTHOUGH AAL HAS GOOD COPPER MINES |
When is the 6 months up at which point bhp can return? |
Tufty ,thanks for the response. I am still holding too. Yes, to BHP interest. Good luck to all that are holding. |
Still holding and watching VAS but not much to say really as all the recent upside has come because of China stimulus.
I wonder if BHP are thinking about this one again though??
Good luck all 👍🏻 |
Where have all the posters gone. There have been no recent comments. |
Copper price up. Miners oversold |
This placing establishes a putative price for the Anglo-Plats shares, if and when they are distributed to shareholders. Assuming there will be a LSE version of the Anglo-Plats stock it looks like it might be worth around £22 a share (with GBP-ZAR = 23.3).
The respective share counts also look to imply a ratio of around 1 Anglo-Plats share per 4 AAL shares.
If this is correct bring it on please. |

Anglo American launches first stage of platinum unit sale 5% sale ahead of a full de-merger with Amplats Is this bad news? or even worse ... |
Wanblad hoped for a better bid but although BHP wanted it ,copper that is ,they played him for the mug he is ,too smart |
What do the Directors care? They have kept their jobs by rejecting the BHP offer. They get their obscene wages. A few share options lapsing isn't going to hurt them. Us PI's on the other hand..... I didn't think I would see this dropping below £20 and still no news on any sale whatsoever. |
I sincerely hope Wanblad is having some sleepless nights!! |
£40 seems like an age away. Can anyone remember lonmin going from £40 to bust? |
