Nothing goes up in a straight line.

Still a good prospect in my opinion.

It is a fair point.

I wonder if that is the reason that there seems to be more cooperation between the West and China?
I have noticed a couple of things.

'Breaking Market News

🔴 CHINA'S VICE PRESIDENT IN TALKS WITH FORMER US TREASURY SECRETARY: CHINA WELCOMES MORE AMERICAN FIRMS TO INVEST IN CHINA.
'Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó:'

'“This is our position - sanctions don’t work. They failed. Sanctions are causing more harm to Europe than to Russia. We hope that one day we can return to civilized cooperation between East and West, because it is in our interests.â€5533;'

'China and the U.S. have agreed to set up separate working groups to discuss macroeconomic and financial policy matters, the Treasury Department said in a statement on Friday.

The establishment of the groups builds on discussions Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen had with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng in Beijing in July, and are part of efforts by the Biden administration to deepen communication with China, the Treasury Department said.

Treasury said it will co-lead the economic working group with China's Finance Ministry, and team up with China's central bank to co-lead the financial working group.'

Now that is interesting.

First there was the big find of minerals in the extinct volcano in the US, which has China as the biggest shareholder, now a bit of cooperation in this , and perhaps both.

Perhaps it shows a change of sentiment between the Nations?

THere's a lot of uncertainty out there at the moment and not just in the West either.

'But a slower pace, in our opinion, may be — excuse the pun — more sustainable.

As we have repeatedly warned on The Oregon Group, the current net-zero targets risk driving up the price of critical minerals extremely sharply and, in turn, the cost of the energy transition.

For example, copper is essential for the energy transition, estimates suggest copper demand is set to rise 50% by 2040, with supply increasing only 16%.'

You need to keep an eye on tin as well as lithium. That's holding up quite well in this market and given that the tin pays the bills at the moment any movement there is just as significant.

Lithium will come roaring back later on this year IMO.

Despite this recent development 'Car industry reels from Sunak’s retreat on net zero plans
UK prime minister delays ban on sales of new petrol and diesel engine car sales by five years'

And again the EU saying that some carbon neutral fuels could be allowed longer than their 2035 plan.

FT headline .

They still feel there will be a shortage of these metals nearer the time.
Trends don't go up in a straight line always as don't shares!

Drilling success also makes a difference.

Well surely it has to do with realisation that things wouldn't be ready for 2030, as Sunak's policy reflects , too.

The car industry here on it's knees?

From the FT.

Well it is definitely a diamond area as well, judging from the article about the shipwreck.
They mentioned a diamond place called Oranjemund.

Regarding other minerals, I believe they might need to buy other mining rights if they found anything else. Uranium could be a possibility around Uis. It depends how broad their current rights are.
I believe KAV in the Kalahari found pegmatites that had previously been drilled for diamonds and noted that if they found diamonds on a drill then they didn't have the mining rights to extract them.
