the last time the Caroil-2 rig was used was back in 2015 and by Wentworth/M&P to drill the MB-4 development well

"The MB-4 development well has a planned depth of
2,089 meters True Vertical Depth Sub Sea and, based on the current
drilling program, is expected to take approximately two months to drill
and complete. The Company will provide an update after drilling
operations have been completed. Wentworth has a 31.94% net interest in
this well, which is being operated by Maurel et Prom and drilled with
the Caroil #2 drilling rig."

"The Ntorya-2 appraisal well is expected to spud late Q4" So it's gone from late Summer to end of October and now to late Q4.

A good time to get down to the betting shop, blackgold, for a gander at the odds 2017.

And don't worry about the collusion, you'll still get full credit for the unmasking.

I think NR has the N-2 target/numbers slightly wrong, hasn't he?

"The Ntorya-1 well has been credited in an independent report by Senergy (GB) Limited with gross 153 billion cubic feet ("bcf") of gas in place, of which 70 bcf are considered gross best estimate contingent resources. A further gross best estimate of undiscovered gas in place of over 1 trillion cubic feet is attributed to the Ntorya Prospect as a whole and is the target of the Ntorya-2 well which is being drilled updip and in a thicker part of the sand body interpreted on the 2014 seismic data acquired to facilitate appraisal."

a bit more info in SOLO RNS

UPDATe NTORYA APPRAISAL WELL, TANZANIA

"Solo is pleased to announce that the site preparations for the Ntorya-2 appraisal well have now been completed and that mobilisation of the Caroil#2 rig from the Ntorya-1 wellsite is now underway.

"The Ntorya-2 pad is located approximately 1.5 kilometres to the southwest of the Ntorya-1 well. The rig and associated equipment are being transported to the new site, will be rigged up and tested, and will then undergo any maintenance required before being taken on under the contract reported on 23 September 2016. The majority of other well services have also now been contracted. Solo therefore estimates that the Ntorya-2 appraisal well is likely to spud in December 2016."

I fully expect N2 to be a big publicity opportunity for both Aminex and Camarco, to get their teeth into. We have not drilled for years and most other drilling in Tanzania has ceased due to oil prices. I'm sure the government will also want to lord our new phase of drilling to highlight that Tanzania is still moving forward with proving up reserves.

Mataragio is still managing director at the TPDC site www.tpdc-tz.com/

After years of frustration with Tanzania, Statoil decided to set in Oystein Michelsen, a top notch in the company.

From the same website comes this:

Kilombero where they are drilling for oil lies in the Morogoro Region which is bordered to the south by Ruvuma and to the east by Lindi Regions.

His reference to "newly built rigs" and "latest technology" did raise a smile.

An interview with Mataragio from earlier on this year on the role of TPDC:

Poor sod, probably when he said "At first I was hesitant to accept bearing in mind that this would be a very political position" he didn't realize the half of it and his relatively early departure might very well mean that they will struggle to find another international candidate. Not that they probably wish to, however, given that role will now be almost certainly reserved for a favourite son of the CCM.

Also a more recent interview with Statoil's Country Manager and you can almost sense the clenched teeth through which he gives the penultimate answer:

The first line confirms that Mr Mataragio was dismissed as TPDC MD regardless of the seemingly spurious grounds and, unusually, the Daily News story on his dismissal can no longer be accessed:

The issue at Likonde is that they had to kill the well for safety. The well design and rig was unable to cope with the kick (high pressure gas)As Peter says Tullow were never going back as it was oil or bust for them.My view is that NT-3 will be drilling the sands that the Likonde kick came from in an updip location. Of course my interpretation may be wrong buts that's my take.

Thanks Bun

SLIDE 14 there's a pretty picture of Likonde

Ah yes you're right it doesn't work, but take your link below here and then choose Oilbarrel Conference Oct 2009 presentation and then slide 14, i like how it shows how gas/oil can migrate from deep older source rocks Karoo/Jurassic through faults to different earlier time zones Cretaceous Tertiary etc

it seems Aminex's presentations only go back as far as 2014, is there anyway of accessing older material say prier 2010?

I think the issue at Likonde, FS, was that they couldn't have continued drilling, logging or anything else once they hit the unexpected high pressure. They would have had to redrill. Since the indications were it was a gas influx, not oil it's no surprise that Tullow had little interest in doing so (and AEX shareholders might have begrudged the outlay at the time too)

At the time the general thinking was that Tullow is only interested in oil and there was a rumour about a Tullow exec writing off Ruvuma as just being small pockets of gas.

The given reason for Likonde being abandoned was high pressure of gas being dangerous and they just couldn't continue.

You idea of a geothermal energy project is very naive.
