As for drop- AEX has been overpriced for some time, yes they now are on a more sure financial footing thanks to BLVN deal (if proceeds.. If GSA ever signed) but they have relinquished a large portion of future potential -I suspect the smart money is pulling out or reducing here and buying into BLVN

Apparently Tiptop has been spotted buying flight tickets to Mumbai. As last year, he's spending Christmas with Jay at his ranch.

thanks for that last throw, yes, there's not much I disagree with, in those views of Geoffrey Lancaster's. and the point he makes that "This is undoubtedly one of the worst, if not the worst bear market I have seen." needs full consideration when we try to analyse and arrive at a fair value for a company and its potential prospects.

Unless there is some bad news to come which has leaked there is clearly no reason for the share price to be dropping. I guess we'll see in the fullness of time.

if the Bowleven analysis posted above has any truth, why is the AEX dropping????????? Something smells very bad here if you ask me anything.........admittedly, they have possibly got rid of assets far too cheaply but still........is that the pnly reason for the drop?

hi Peter, a couple of things, regards the old and new plants, the old is owned by Songas which is majority owned by Globeleq, and the new belongs 100% to TPDC who with its new mandate and new infrastructure will now be pursuing its own market share along with I presume the support of Tanesco. So I think there must be some competition going on with Songas.

plus regarding the need for the new SS plant. If TPDC and Songas had the same aims and objectives then maybe the old SS plant would had been expanded as was being pland.

"Plans are awaiting approval for Songas to expand the processing infrastructure by installing two new gas processing transmission trains on Songo Songo Island that could ultimately handle 200 MMcfd. With additional compression the capacity of the high pressure marine pipeline can then be raised from 102 MMcfd to 144 MMcfd. Then once the onshore pipeline is twinned, the system will be able to operate at up to 200 MMcfd."

This has all been a bit of a riddle to me, why borrow/spend $100 million on a new gas processing plant without a clear plan to use it and benefit from it. So I wonder did someone or whoever they are, already make the decision and plan to take the old SS Processing plant back to its original design capacity from (100mmscfd to 70mmsfd), for reasons, I'm not to sure, (safety, corrosion, insurance)? when that is, the new plant is complete and ready to make up the 30mmcfd short fall that would occur .

It would certainly provide the need and justify the investment of the new SS processing plant and would make sense of the continued reports that when the new Songo Songo processing plant is completed it will be coming on stream.

So maybe there has been all along, those select few that have needed to be in the know, but because of commercially and maybe politically sensitive reasons have not been able to make the whole plan public.

"The Songo Songo gas to electricity project was completed in 2004 and was designed to provide an average production of 55MMscfd with a peak production of 70MMSfd."

"This was based around designing the system to supply enough gas for use at Songas’ UPP with a small additional amount of gas for use by other industrial users such as Twiga Cement. Since then, gas consumption in the country has increased substantially as commerce and industry have realised the economical and environmental benefits of using this local resource."

"In January 2009 the maximum capacity of the gas processing plant was increased to 90MMscfd on a temporary basis to provide some relief to TANESCO (who at the time was suffering from a generation capacity shortages)"

"This increase in capacity allowed the industrial sector to consume around 10MMScfd and TANESCO to fuel both Songas' 180MW Ubungo Power Plant and 145MW of their own gas fired generation (originally the Dowans and Aggreko plants but superseded by TANESCO’s Ubungo and Tegeta plants)."

"Since then, Songas and Pan African have also been working on an additional temporary solution. In June 2011 following a significant engineering investigation the capacity of the gas processing plant was increased further to 105MMScfd (this is 35MMSCfd above C and 15 MMscfd on top of the previous temporary solution). This is not permanent answer and is well beyond the original design parameters of the facility."

"It should be noted that Songas’ facilities are now at their physical limits and cannot increase throughput any further without a significant investment".

wb, yes agreed. But at least AEX is now in the boxing ring, it was flat on its back outside the ring before.
