I expect Amerisur to be taken out in the last week of April, I don't yet know what price, but it won't be less than 60p.

Blackdown2 I dont think GC will recommend an offer under £1, so it would have to be an hostile TO. Do you know something or is it in your water/tea leaves?

On the contrary, plenty to look forward to. I am happy to put my neck on the line to the effect that Amerisur will cease to be an independent company as from around the middle of May 2018. With regard to the take out price, I am reasonably confident that this will be between 60/70p per share.

At "just" 7k bopd, the extra net-back against all projections in recent presentations is over $100k PER DAY.

--Oil futures rallied anew in Friday morning Asian trading after initial softness, setting the stage for both to log fresh 2017 settlement highs.

--February light, sweet crude on the New York Mercantile Exchange was recently up 0.7% at $60.25 a barrel in the Globex trading session. March Brent rose 0.6% to $66.55.

--Through Thursday, the US benchmark had gained 11% this year, versus 17% for the global Brent standard. The market has improved amid optimism about years of oversupply ebbing, capped by rising demand and the OPEC-led production-cap deal being extended through 2018. Both have been at 2 1/2-year highs of late.

Well there we have it. West tex popped above $60 bbl.
Will be interesting to see if this accelerates from here - highest since May/June 2015 and if it breaks the low 60's you have to go back to 2010 to identify the next resistance level around $70.

another 30k just gone thru Nex exchange there. Both buys.
That's almost 200k today.
Anyone would think they want peeps to see low activity...

edit: another 50k Nex trade there. Looks like a sell this time.

Oil prices rose near two-year highs Thursday after data showed a decline in U.S. crude stocks.

Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, rose 0.4% to $66.65 a barrel on London's ICE Futures exchange. On the New York Mercantile Exchange, West Texas Intermediate futures were trading up 0.3% at $59.80 a barrel.

Both grades have approached their highest levels since 2015 amid thin trading over the Christmas holiday and ahead of New Year.

Prices were boosted after the American Petroleum Institute on Wednesday said U.S. crude inventories declined by 6 million barrels for the week ended Dec. 22.
