Let me know when that happens!

But I hope it doesn't.

For this share I am going to use my gut for when to sell. My day job is contract style working for companies like AMFW so will simply sell when they start laying of people like me. I can usually see this coming a few months in advance so hopefully I will be disciplined enough to sell then.

I take your point.

It is impossible to predict the peak, but I think (if you have some experience relevant to the sector) you can sometimes identify the peak or at least get reasonably close. The difficulty for me is acting on the conclusion. I have succeeded sometimes but I have missed out several times. It was unforgiveable of me not to sell all my oil shares around the last oil price peak. I was just too lazy to think it through, even though I was telling everyone oil prices were bound to fall I did not act on it. Groupthink strikes again.

Given I had already done the same thing back in 2007ish I should have known better!

I guess if I was going for a price target here I would chose 780 or so, but this is nothing more than an uninformed view based on recent history (overpaid takeover) and the share price chart.

Maybe better to set a sale price than a time deadline for the cyclics as predicting the peak is always difficult.

I agree with your quickie analysis pogue. Management (I am talking generally here) almost invariably responds to downturns when what they should be doing is anticipating them. Still, that should not be a problem for investors, because they can buy low and sell high as you say. It is a share not to forget that you have for this reason. That said, I can hopefully forget it for the next five years...

Must admit against my better judgement I bought a few days ago. The sector is due a re rating as it follows the oil industry and the big oilies which have been going up with the oil price. As for management learning everyone in the industry knows it is a cyclic industry and every 8 years or so there is a massive downturn nothing you can do about it so it will happen again, diversifying can help but the revenues from O&G are in a different league that other industries like renewables etc so investing in them is pointless as the returns are not worth it. Sell high buy low in this sector.

I bought in here a couple of days back. Seems like this sector is due a recovery and management here should have learned lessons by now. So far so good.

Well, just spoke to my mate and she says there was an announcement from Jon Lewis today, but although the rumours earlier in the week included a sell off of parts of the Clean Energy business and an outsourcing of some of the support functions, the reality was terminally dull.

All Lewis said was some bland words about the rationale behind the re-organisation into four units / lines which was nothing new.

Lots of waffle, but no real substance was how it was described to me. If that's all you need to be a CEO then I'm eminently qualified.

Ah well, bang goes my potential ITK status :(

Two articles in the FT today one in Lex column and one in the main body of the paper, rather odd in that one of them was broadly positive and the other negative.
One of the articles mentioned that the words "rights issue" had been used in a conference call yesterday.
Until the uncertainty is cleared I guess the share price will remain under pressure.

Been watching this for some time but in fairness the management have been very open about the challenging market circumstances. That's unlikely to improve any time soon so I can only see a further reduction in the SP, which means I'm staying out for now. I think 350p to 370p is looking on the cards. Still a quality company and buying for the long term seems most logical.

Net debt is £1.1BN and I think that people are reading between the lines and are factoring in a possible rights issue to reduce debt hence the drop, otherwise I don't really see what was in there to justify such a large drop but then again I was amazed as I watched the share price rise from 350 to over 600 given that their major markets had not really improved so maybe just an element of reality setting in now.
