21/3/2017 11:12 | There's always loads of speculation and 'what if' scenarios whenever a merger or take over is active. The monopolies commission will stick their ore in but by offloading some divisions (AMFW have already said they want to off load the nuclear side) I'm betting on this merger going ahead. Since I'm underwater on AMFW and faced with a cancelled divi and a RI it's a 'no brainer' as our American chums would say. | losos
21/3/2017 07:31 | Lot of focus on the NS but that is only a small part of two large companies. I expect them to close the AmecFW offices in Aberdeen anyway if they are forced to sell it I would struggle to see any takers the office like all in Aberdeen are on skeleton staffing levels. Bit of a non story if you ask me. | pogue
15/3/2017 17:56 | puffintickler - I read most of the announcement, seemes to be a compeling case certainly as far as AMFW is concerned. Hope that the deal goes ahead 'cos I don't like the idea of loosing the dividend. | losos
15/3/2017 16:26 | I can't see anything to stop the deal. Both sides are in agreement about the "price". It looks a buying opportunity to me. | puffintickler
15/3/2017 11:46 | I bought recently I am either going to hold or buy more. | pogue
15/3/2017 10:44 | Yes, interesting the price is now at c. 90% of the calculated value of the bid, and less than 10% above the price immediately before the announcement. I guess this reflects a significant doubt as to whether the deal will go ahead. Some shareholders are no doubt noting that the bid is at less than the price a few months ago and significantly below the price of about 18 months ago. The paradox of course is that if shareholders reject the bid as not high enough, the price will likely fall (unless of course there is a counter bid). Difficult one to call here - buy more, hold or sell? I only bought in very recently so am sitting on a quick profit, but can't decide what to do now! | kazoom
15/3/2017 10:43 | reflects the possibility of it not actually happening. Nothing is certain so there is a risk premium. 2 risks I see another bidder low which would actually increase the price anyway or regulatory but I see that as low as well. | pogue
15/3/2017 09:57 | must say im surprised by the fall back in price since the announcement .. m | maurillac
13/3/2017 16:15 | It was suspended anyway in preparation for a rights issue. | sharw
13/3/2017 09:30 | I agree gb1 - getting AMFW on the cheap. Must mean worthwhile hanging onto the Wood shares in due course ? | ptgint
13/3/2017 09:26 | FW is a hot potato - being moved from pillar to post I was a bit surprised about disposal of nuclear How easy is that going to be ? Divi situation was fairly predictable Renegotiating finance was clearly a big big problem mornington crescent 7 Jan '16 - 10:43 - 122 of 319 0 0 Edit clearly bitten off more than they can chew in the circumstances. waiting to hear about further "restructuring" possibly inside FW. probably say bye bye to any future dividend for some years. | mornington crescent
13/3/2017 08:59 | Thanks pogue, there has been a slew of good contract win in the past few weeks, just think the offer price doesn't reflect fair value for the company and the potential earnings. Wood are certainly getting AMFW on the cheap, their share price has jumped 8% this morning. | gbenson1
13/3/2017 08:51 | Its a different company now than it was at £11 and the oil prices is below half of the price it was then so you are not comparing like with like. Market seems to think there is more to go as there is a 14p premium just now not convinced you will see £6.50 mind you. | pogue
13/3/2017 08:38 | Not sure if it's good value, I sold part of my stake not so long ago for £6, think this needs to be £6.50+ are there anymore interested parties? This share price has come from £11+ not so many years ago!! | gbenson1
13/3/2017 08:32 | that came out of nowhere! | pogue
13/3/2017 07:47 | Very much on the up!!! | puffintickler
10/3/2017 17:24 | I am seeing a lot of job adverts for engineers for AmecFW so they would appear to be on the up. | pogue
10/3/2017 14:19 | Anyone got any views on today's news? Looks like amfw have certainly bottomed and turned up now. Could gain some momentum with this kind of news | leontitcombe
19/1/2017 22:07 | Heathrow will be kicking off soon so good high profile work slowly coming in. E&I staff even got a pay rise this year so someone must be happy! | langerman
09/1/2017 17:49 | pogue - 'contract style working for companies like AMFW' You and me both, although my time with them was decades ago haha. At the time I thought they had some good managers, that partially influenced my buying them. The FW takeover clearly cost too much and did seem an unlikely match. But we are where we are, in my case badly underwater haha. 780 would be good, some big contracts on the likes of Hinkley Point B would also help haha. | losos
06/1/2017 15:54 | Fenner had good results... | zcaprd7 |
