Good Evening Your Soberness :-). I am over wine tasting, I have learnt a grave lesson :-). With regard to your last sentence, I am of firm belief that Great Western will become a target, by say September 2011.

Hope you're well, TC Fraser

Edited: the year.

More than a few months, I suspect, P3dr036 - but not to worry. I've been in Great Western for more years than I care to shake a stick at and have every confidence in their ability to make me an excellent return in the fulness of time...

The point about Great Western is their downstream capability, which - as yet - no other rare earth developer has got.

Excellent target, keep up the good work! I'll be very interested in what they have to send you.

I still haven't dipped my toes in the REE scene yet. Keeping an eye very much on GWG which I'd like in my ISA. But I've got some other "dishes" cooking at the moment and won't have the funds for a few weeks at least.
I don't think I need rush though as we are a good few months away from production yet accordiong to chip's info.

Cheers
Peter

I do not know if anyone of you follow TMR,
which is co-authored by Jack Lifton & Gareth Hatch. I submitted a copy a my proposed spreadsheet and below is a reply from Gareth Hatch

Thank you for sending a copy of your spreadsheet. I'm always happy to communicate with people who are looking to do their own homework in this space.

The timing of your email is interesting. Jack and I are in the process of launching a new subscriber-based advisory service this month. One of three key components of the service is the provision of regularly-updated data and information on rare-earth projects. At present we are tracking 230 different rare-earth projects, being run by 145 different companies in 22 different countries. In addition, we have a set of the 12 most-advanced rare-earth projects for which we've put together a lot of data. Each of the projects is either a 43-101 or JORC compliant mineral resource, and / or has been historically mined and thus has reliable data.

Interesting also, is that Jack and I have come to a similar conclusion regarding neodymium - we're also working on a related set of metrics that focuses on the Nd-Dy-Tb content of any given deposit for just this reason.

I can take a look at where you have blanks on your XLS file and for any of the 12 advanced projects that we track, I can slot in the data that we have and send it back to you. And of course, when we launch the new service, I'll be happy to send you more details :-)

best wishes

Gareth

Strength of a NbFeB Magnet. I was fortunate in getting two NbFeB magnets when I attended the AGM in Saskatoon this summer. The magnet is only 0.015625 cubic inches in size or 0.25" high by 0.25" wide by 0.25" long. By putting the two magnets approximately 1.5" inches apart they will come together with unbelievable force, literally jumping several inches high when coming together. To give you an idea of the strength of these magnets, I placed two heavy tables knives near one magnet and it picked the knives up with no problem. Also the coming together force has also chipped one of the magnets. When placing the two magnets together it is very difficult to separate them. My wife was not able to break them apart. This gives you an idea as to the strength of One tonne of magnets that is used in the construction of One MW windmill.

Target.
I for one find your posts nothing but interesting and at times fascinating.
I always try and find time to check on this tread most days, and I never stop learning.

Ps does anyone know why MDL spiked just before close on Friday, as I can't find anything.

Cheers.

Gold Canyon Resources (TSX:GCU) has a promising rare earth tailing project (JV with the Japanese) and a gallium project which is probably not economic at the moment. Price has already appreciated because of their gold project but probably a lot more upside. There is a good thread running at smartinvestment.ca......go to mexicomike on the drop down menu.

An interesting trend has be going on in the last few days of trading. The shift from REE plays other than a few is declining while the other three have progressed

I will be providing a very informational and interesting chart once it is completed and the emphasis is going to be on 12 most-advanced rare-earth projects for which we've put together a lot of data. Each of the projects is either a 43-101 or JORC compliant mineral resource, and / or has been historically mined and thus has reliable data.

Nobody seems to agree on how much TREM Total Rare Earth Metals comprise the composition of a One Tonne NdFeB magnet used in the construction of windmills. I've done the research and have found that 28 to 33% of TREMs are required for the contruction of a One tonne NdFeB magnet. 280 Kgs to 330 Kgs. or 617 to 727 imperial pounds.

Many may be wondering why I grouped (ND) Neodymium with the HREEs. Well according to articles such as this it is projected that a shortage of neodymium is inevitable, maybe as soon as 2012.

Just a clarification in the Comparison Chart on pmem. I will be revising the Insitu value to 80% as the recovery rate. The chart on the site now shows as 100% recovery, the new chart will show 80% recovery which appears to be an average rate of recovery of the REOs from the ore and concentrate. This will show a more realistic insitu value of the ore per ton.
It is very clear that the grade and ratio between HREEs + ND and the balance of the LREEs play a significant part in determining the economics of the deposit excluding the cost of recovery and mining which also will be a very key factor in the overall economics of the venture.

many thanks to rrr and others for the "Button"

TRT - Too right!!

I spent many months in Chile over the period 1978 - 1997 on dozens of business trips and made many friends out there. Great country - lovely people and super wines.

OFF TOPIC, But here goes. We all regardless of where you reside have to be extremely proud of the rescue efforts taking place in Chile. I am experiencing very touching moments in those rescue efforts as I am aware as to how proud the individuals are who have coordinated the efforts as I have been involved in a rescue mission myself at one time.

rrr, I will add ALK to my listing. I am revising the entire chart to include the Grade of each deposit along with the insitu dollar value per ton of ore for each deposit. That entire chart will be available on my site later on this week. I will post a tentative chart later today which is not complete to give you idea as to what I am trying to show on a comparative basis. It is taking me a little longer than I thought as I have to research each companies information.
