International trade secretary Liz Truss on Friday closed her 57th trade deal with another country as foreign governments line up to capitalise from Brexit with the world’s fifth largest economy. While EU bosses in Brussels have pushed Britain towards no deal, the 57 agreements with other countries made over the last two years are already worth £193 billion a year. The unprecedented success is underpinned by the fact that no other country has ever negotiated so many trade deals simultaneously.

Following the latest deals with Singapore and Vietnam on Thursday and Friday, an ally of Ms Truss told The Sunday Express: “We’re doing more simultaneous trade negotiations than any other country in living memory - and we’re delivering. In eighteen months in the job, Liz has become one of the world’s most respected trade ministers. She’s fought really hard for Britain and shown she can get the job done.

“What she’s doing is giving the UK trading options. No matter the outcome of the EU talks, we’re showing Britain can deepen ties with nations beyond Europe and succeed as an independent trading nation.”

While many of the deals are continuity agreements to continue arrangements with the EU almost all of them have a clause which will see the UK and other country work on an improved agreement.

Others like the Japan deal are specifically tailored to the UK market and have opened up the possibility of the UK joining the world’s fastest growing trade bloc the Trans Pacific Partnership.

The agreements with countries account for 93 percent of the value of trade with non-EU countries that the UK set out to secure agreements with at the start of the trade continuity programme.

Since the Transition Period began, Britain has expanded the ambition of its programme above and beyond this original scope, securing agreements with Japan, Vietnam and Singapore, which together accounted for £53bn of UK trade in 2019.

Ms Truss said: “As the UK establishes itself as an independent trading nation, we must embrace new partnerships with dynamic countries like Singapore.

“This deal not only locks in billions of pounds worth of trade, but provides new opportunities for UK businesses and paves the way for a new digital partnerships and UK membership of the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

“Our ambition is to place the UK at the centre of a trading network with nations across the Asia-Pacific and the Americas and a global hub for services and technology trade. Together we will fight against increased global protectionism, champion free and fair trade and drive economic growth around the world.

“In under two years we have agreed trade deals with 57 countries that account for £193bn of UK bilateral trade. This is an unprecedented achievement and merely signals the start of our ambitions for a truly global Britain.”

There will be strong demand for ALGW's uncorrelated returns whatever the outcome of BREXIT and huge gains for the shares.

Phoenix. Unless you fancy yourself as a whiz kid day trader you should regard shares as an investment and not a gamble. Dont invest anything you cant afford to lose but take a longer term view of one or two years (or even longer) . I feel sure that over time ALGW will repay more than any bank or building society account. Who knows, they may even make you rich! Do your own research, dont believe everything spouted on here and make your own decisions. Whatever you decide - good luck.

City Chappy #441, I agree. 'No deal' with the EU will make ALGW even more attractive to investors, as other listed companies trading into and out of the EU or with EU supply lines, could struggle after BREXIT.

I wouldn't be surprised to see ALGW well over 30p ahead of conclusion of the £100m revolving credit facility some time in Q1/Q2 2021 and launch of the new Income and Growth Fund in 2021 which has a minimum subscription of £50m per client.

City chippy, I’m new to this area.
I wanted to invest few weeks ago but have I now missed the boat? Is there a chance for this to reach 4p in 2021?

Another good thing about ALGW is that it is a US based business, mainly drawing on clients from the US, and to a lessor extent the UK and Switzerland, and only dealing in US derived life policies, so it is BREXIT proof regardless of the UK-EU relationship going forward.

In addition, ALGW fund/account performance is completely independent of stock markets and commodity markets, because it is linked to maturation of life insurance policies, which always pay out at some statistically predictable point, meaning reliable revenues to ALGW and reliable performance for investors.

The counter party for the awaited $100m revolving credit facility is a UK asset manager, so with approval of the Pfizer vaccine in the UK this week and the Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccine to follow, the counterparty will soon be vaccinated and able to travel to complete the deal.

It's a once in a lifetime chance to get in now to ALGW ahead of deal completion, which will transform ALGW into a $100m+ MCap company. I expect them to be nearer $200m MCap.

N.B.
ALGW, 4/11/2020:

"The Company's discussion with the Warehouse Loan/Short Term Credit Facility counterparty continues and is nearing a conclusive step. The counterparty's COVID policy is limiting their ability to conclude site visits to the Company's and our servicing agents' US based offices. The Company will provide further updates as discussions progress."

ALGW, 2/12/2019:

"After many months of engagement, the Company is now in the final stages of securing a revolving credit facility up to a $100,000,000 with a leading UK asset manager. The discussions have progressed well whereby the Company and Asset Manager have now agreed life settlement valuation methodologies and acquisition strategies.

This facility will be a key element to enable Alpha to aggregate SLS policies to be vended into investors, in a sufficient transactional value that is relevant to the underlying buyers, whether that be a bond offering or investment portfolio. The Company expects to be able to complete the necessary documentation in a timely manner and looks forward to updating the market on closing of the facility."

As I'm I, GS knows now he has to deliver, due to Covid, he's had his hands tied but once restrictions lifted I believe he will get credit facility completed. Also I suspect Mark Ward knows something over 12% of share price owned now and I understand he is a client of the new broker from what I have read in the past. If I'm wrong happy to be corrected.

If credit facility aquired for $100 mil which has been alluded too by GS, then surely 30p very possible in very near term imo.

GS and DS expect to sell out / be bought out when the company reaches a market capitalisation of $100 million. At current 'shares in issue' that requires an share price of about 30p. While I understand the excitement above this is going to take at least another year.

the 100mn target was 2 years ago. Since then Alpha's business model has shifted and the economic climate has sadly (not for us) aligned for Alpha to do well. I would say long term goal here...will far exceed 100mn but suspect takeover at some point. The 10-14% interest in BOAGF has to make it one of the most compelling investments.
