We should get confirmation of the Irish deal in the next month and have £5 as a new floor.

Agree - With double digit growth forecast for 2006, this is still on a forward p/e of approx. x10. sector average x15. This disparity was justified when mcalpine was a construction company hybrid with a less certain track record and smaller order book, but I can no longer see this anomoly continuing. Mcalpine has one of the strongest balance sheets in the sector and a fast growing order book.

Barring any glitches, the share price should tend toward £6-£6.50 this year.

Good solid results today, plus positive statement about prospects. Should move forward from here.

It looks like the share price is correcting itself slowly. If the Ireland deal is the same sort of £50m pa figures mentioned in the last announcement then MCA are back below forward p/e of 10 with a healthy forward order book and zero debt. target £8.

Potential new Bank of Ireland contract announced this morning. If they can complete it, it shows the management delivering on public promises. Only negative is whether Ireland with its higher inflation and tiht labour markets is the same as the UK, but the market could only view this positively to begin with.

Well small medium term contracts yes. Short on details, but at an historic margin £50m in turnover will add approx 10% to profits a year.

Agreed miami - amazing that there wasn't more reaction. I suppose companies this big are just expected to keep up a flow of such announcements.

Good thread. All signs are positive. Internal reorganisation looks well timed to add focus to 2006 strategy. Some good prospects in order pipeline

Lafiamma - Excellent timing on your entrance as usual. Now that mca has moved from construction to support services it represents around a 35% discount to peer group. Perhaps with a smaller order book than others (seems to be filling up nicely) but no debt which is a reassurance against the amey/jarvis risks.
