10/1/2006 23:14 | Welcome to the new MCA thread, complete with charts. Good luck to all who hold. | siskinbird
10/1/2006 23:11 | Company website:- | siskinbird
10/1/2006 23:10 | lafiamma. I agree - I'm in this longterm, barring accidents, and continue to be impressed. Nasty fall in the couple of days leading up to this statement, but hopefully we'll now make up the lost ground. It annoys me that there are no charts on this thread and I guess that its creator is no longer around, so I'm going to start a new one, called McAlpine 2006- I hope you and others will follow me there! | siskinbird
10/1/2006 08:26 | Back in long this morning at 380.25 Nice solid statement, market still pricing in some bad news imo (judging by valuation) but I'm damned if I can see why. | lafiamma
15/12/2005 08:29 | steve, I used to be interested in them a long time ago, but sold out way too early (i.e. BUR @ 520, DNX @ 580, TLW @ 210) and no longer follow them. I think the likes of BP. and RDSB are pretty safe bankers over the next couple of months, but I must stress they are only small positions to add a bit of diversity. I'm more bullish on housing and financial stocks. | lafiamma
14/12/2005 11:13 | Laf - Any of the oil midcaps on your radar? I went long on VPC yesterday. | miamisteve
09/12/2005 17:03 | My main positions are sbt, prty, nlr, mca, chu, cgl, hwy, pic. I have around 8% in cash looking for a home. I've been using refs online as my starting point, any better services? | miamisteve
09/12/2005 16:15 | miami, UK Housebuilders make up 40% of my portfolio, main holdings there being WMPY, TWOD, BDEV, CRST, BWY, WLB, PSN & BVS. Been in them (with the occassional sell and buy back) for just over a year. In total up about 60% on them but more to come, imo. US Homebuilders make up 20% of my portfolio, started buying them a couple of weeks ago and overall I'm breakeven on them so far. I've been in a load of banks. Recently sold AL., BB., KGN, LLOY, PAG, NRK & STAN, but still holding RBS, HSBA, HBOS & BARC. RBS alone makes up 9% of my portfolio. Today I bought BP & RDSB, those two oils make up 10% of my portfolio. The final 15% of my portfolio is made up of a selection of small/mid caps, such as MCA, ROK, COST, NSB & FWY. How about you? laf ;o) | lafiamma
09/12/2005 16:08 | laf - what are you in at the moment? If I had held bdev for another 2 months I would've made £200k. oh dear. | miamisteve
08/12/2005 15:34 | acquisition excitement wearing off, momentum traders exit stage left | lafiamma
08/12/2005 15:30 | Whole sector down big | lafiamma
08/12/2005 15:10 | Why the drop Laf? S | smarm
08/12/2005 13:24 | No, a buying op... laf ;o) | lafiamma
08/12/2005 13:21 | Ouch. A large placement? | miamisteve
07/12/2005 23:44 | Yes, worth hanging onto this one, IMO. | ed 123
07/12/2005 15:36 | With Mowlem and john laing going through McA would be a potential bid target as the PFI/FM sector consolidates. | mike180
02/12/2005 16:54 | Now solidly through that 390 resistance. Presume its the John Laing bid talks as well as contract wins. | 18bt
01/12/2005 13:03 | Alfred McAlpine Contract Win Underpins Stock Thursday, December 01, 2005 5:07:18 AM ET Dow Jones Newswires 0844 GMT [Dow Jones] Alfred McAlpine's (MCA.LN) GBP75M defence contract win underpins the prospects for continued growth throughout the business, says trader. "It's another tick in the order book and keeps momentum in the stock going," he says. But reckons stock needs to break through 390p resistance if further gains are to be seen. Shares trade unchanged at 379.25p | lafiamma
09/11/2005 09:44 | I agree miami, it's a hidden gem that's for sure! | lafiamma
08/11/2005 15:32 | You'd think that there would be consolidation interest in this stock ( in light of Mowlem). Cash surplus, lowest rating in sector etc. | miamisteve
16/10/2005 17:27 | Nope. Are there any sellers or avoiders out there? Care to comment? All opinions most welcome, no offence will be taken. Cheers, Ed | ed 123
14/10/2005 22:50 | Anyone any idea why it went down so much today ? | lms
14/10/2005 16:01 | It's reached the 360p support level. Will it bounce or won't it? | ed 123
14/10/2005 10:03 | Looks to be heading back to 360p, dragged down by sour market sentiment. In the current market almost everything is being hit. Should climb again IMO when the market separates further those companies exposured to weak consumer demand from those having a fairly safe and rising income stream. | ed 123
04/10/2005 07:55 | Thanks for your comments, miamisteve. It goes XD tomorrow. Yesterday sector heavyweights had their share price targets upped. I expect someone in the City to "discover" McAlpine's low rating soon. I've topped up ready for this. Can see it going through £4 soon. | ed 123 |
