03/10/2013 09:57 | These have got to rocket upwards nothing on the order book in the way of sell orders. Not seen level 2 this strong on any stock. | johncraven
03/10/2013 09:56 | Was cash for gold a significant part of the business for ABM? I believe most of the UK 'broken jewellery' physical gold was melted down, flown to Switzerland to be made into bars and then onward to Hong Kong. That market has now dried up imho. Even the BOE sold 1300 tonnes recently when they only have 300 tonnes on their books. Naughty custodians that they are! | yikyak
03/10/2013 09:51 | One or two real punters entering now... a few 25k blocks on level 2, just need a few O's to sap liquidity and were away. Buy at these levels, 50% rise on the cards. | theprovosts
03/10/2013 09:48 | spob And the fixed cost of maintaining such a significantly expanded operation. ABM had been warning about the declining intake of gold. Its gold activities were such a major contributor toward operating profit. The combination of falling gold prices and declining intake of gold equivalents has no doubt had a disproportionate impact on profitability. | bobsidian

03/10/2013 09:41 | I don't think the main problem is the debt, which is comfortably covered by cash and receivables without regard to other tangible assets. The main question, I suspect, is the quality of the receivables. | grahamite2

03/10/2013 09:24 | Five days ago the EZCorp stake in ABM was worth around £17 million. Now it is worth little more than £3 million. It was asked to underwrite a rights issue which would have cost it at least £10.5 million. The loss in value of its stake in ABM is now more than the minimum participation cost in the rights issue. If the major shareholder in ABM sees no reason to defend the value of its stake then how could equity market participants believe in anything other than a bigger arrangement being in place to compensate EZCorp for its loss - an arrangement not designed to be for the benefit of existing shareholders. Buyers of ABM equity at these levels are exercising not inconsiderable courage. | bobsidian
03/10/2013 09:15 | lets hope administrators arn't coming | narindg
03/10/2013 09:10 | BUYERS COMING IN BOUGHT SOME AT 23.2P | falia
03/10/2013 08:40 | I think a chap put 10 grand into Ashtead and turned it into millions, literally. An incredibly wild punt as it was more than an "untimely" US acquisition, there was talk of large scale fraud. | grahamite2 |
