As lithium prices continue to soar, drilling continues on the V1V2 orebody to increase the confidence level of our #lithium and #tantalum JORC-compliant resource at the Uis Tin Mine. #atm #namibia

I am hoping that we have some news soon on Lithium & Tantalum. This could end up being transformational.

"Electric vehicle (EV) producers and suppliers could be facing a major cost headache starting this year as prices for battery-grade lithium are poised to skyrocket. Prices for the metal are already trading at a record high of $35 per kilogram in Asia, and are likely to keep climbing to $50 per kilogram in the second half of 2022 and trade at around $52.5 per kilogram in January 2023, a Rystad Energy analysis shows."................

18 November 2012 RNS:

....."The pilot plant is expected to cost GBP2.2 million, consisting of CAPEX and operating costs over the course of the pilot campaign. The plant will be funded from existing cash reserves. The Company plans to operate the plant for an initial period of 6 months, generating bulk product sales for the purpose of establishing a long-term offtake agreement. Results from this pilot will inform a bankable feasibility study for the integrated full-scale circuit. AfriTin is engaging with possible EPCM partners for the implementation of the pilot plant by Q2 of 2022, to be followed by the implementation of the full-scale petalite concentrate circuit."......

LME tin prices have surged in the last few days, driven by weakness in the US dollar and strength in the Chinese market.

In China, the upcoming end of the January contract has seen the price move higher as those short in the market struggle to cover their positions. Weaker imports from Myanmar in December and expected low refined production in January are also helping push the SHFE price to new records.

Incredible rally.

But potential for a lot more. Tin demand is pretty elastic, the amount of tin in electronics on a per piece basis is very small, and the cost as a proportion of input costs is very low. Which means even if prices double again substitution is going to be limited. Phone costs ($200-1200) Tin in phone 5 cents tin prices trebles 15 cents really doesn't matter.

Supply side Myanmar large producer, border closed with China, further issues likely ongoing. In general a market that is ignored with limited new supply. Too small for the big miners to get involved.

Roll on these hitting double figures
