24/12/2007 09:00 | Merry Xmas all, from a rather stormy North Sea. Been a cracker of a year for AFR. Long may it continue. Hoping for news of the rig arrival early in the new year. Given the topsides and FPSO schedule, just need the rig to complete the picture. Luck to all Sludge | sludgesurfer

23/12/2007 17:50 | An interesting post by BB on ihub. What makes it interesting to me is that BB for the first time is linking Afren to ERHC/EEL...something I did in a private email to a poster on this thread at least 6 months ago! Of course this is all speculation and thoughts of what could be going down in the JDZ/GOG...but interesting all the same. Best Wishes for Christmas & New Year. Gpmh1 (Edited. Just to add...BB is a very respected poster on ihub!) Posted by: balance_builder In reply to: balance_builder who wrote msg# 114499 Date:12/23/2007 12:07:00 PM Post #of 114520 Scaled down some??? Scenario 1: ERHC and EEL merge into Afren in a share swap deal. A supermajor is on hand at the time of the ERHC/EEL shareswap deal and pay a premium for the new block of shares coming into AFREN thus taking controlling interest of AFREN. At a later date (not much later)Chrome Energy enters the fray through AFREN. Scenario 2: Chrome Energy does a reverse takeover with EEL. The new Chrome/EEL company AND ERHC merge with AFREN. Again, a supermajor is in the background and scoop up the newly added AFREN shares at a premium gaining controlling interest of AFREN. Said premium buy of new shares raises the co's overall share price to the $4 to $6 range. AFREN has layed the goundwork, has the management and most importantly, has excellent political connections. Odd that AFREN takes on the Devon properties....when China was interested in same....or is it? "Chinese companies have been considering purchasing other Devon assets elsewhere in Africa." Hmmmmm.....AFREN became very yellow when they purchased Devons property last month? Could SNP be the supermajor ready to pounce on controlling interest of same? Red on the outside? | gpmh1

23/12/2007 10:14 | Yes merry xmas all. Heres to everyone having a successful 2008. Think we can all agree here that Afren is one of the stars of our portfolios and next year should be a joy to have their shares in our back pockets! Cheers to 2mex for showing me this one! :-) | 5bag
21/12/2007 16:48 | Merry Christmas Affrers! | ilancas
21/12/2007 15:57 | hi ilancas, yes, shs can be used for shorting/borowing etc, but mainly crest is to ease the fluidity of transactions between brokers, mm's and other financial institutions.. incidentally, weve gone from 5% in crest whilst MS werent buying to now 11% odd but now MS have 30 mill odd shs.. perhaps theyre keeping the stock in crest.. it was dicussed a wee hwile back and i think the bottom line was , oh well. lol. im not worried personally. cheers | leeson31
21/12/2007 15:53 | Shares out on loan: seems a very high percentage to me. I always thought that loan shares = short positions, but maybe there are other reasons why shares could be loaned out. Any views? If there is a large short position, it might make for an interesting short squeeze at some future point. | ilancas
21/12/2007 15:26 | Afren Oil and gas exploration company Afren has been showing a lot of strong upwards momentum over the past few months. If the price can continue to hold above the £1 level, it looks good for further gains. | makkaroni |
