07/1/2017 17:02 | The only AIM stocks that I think may have chance are SXX and IQE, personally I wouldn't trust any R&D companies they never tell the truth and just string investors along until they finally run out cash and patients, i.e. NANO CEO thinks he is worth £600k pa yet never made a profit or paid a dividend he is having a laugh...Ha ha ha | beeezzz
07/1/2017 16:56 | 1m...I was of the impression he left in November...I stand corrected... Your other points are sound, the only fault in your analysis is the "black goo" is not working whatever ingredients they are using, which is why Lewis was demoted. They have made it abundantly clear on numerous occasions they wished to keep the electrode in-house to protect their IP... Patenting the electrode would give them some protection, Otherwise somebody will get hold of it, whether the patents and IP they have registered are probably out of date anyway the time its taken. Personally Bond has had his last thrown of the dice by bringing in De Nora, its sounds the actions of desperate man, if they cannot get the electrode working for at least 12 months with continued steady output; if not the fuel cell graveyard awaits like so many before them. | beeezzz
07/1/2017 10:07 | AFC's fuel cell design has numerous patents however the "black goo" isn't patentedAFC would have to reveal the recipe in order to patent it.Gene Lewis assured us at last years investors day that the recipe couldn't be worked out by analysing the finished product because several crucial ingredients disappear (evaporate) during the mixing process.Let's hope Gene doesn't take a gap year in China :() | 1margot
06/1/2017 21:16 | Not me, sadly! Thank-you, TheOriginalYoda. You must be one of the exceptions to the rule about people on these boards. I do appreciate your taking the time to explain. My brother-in-law introduced me to Adfyn over the Christmas break, and is also into ii, though he did not mention LSE. Sounds like I am better off steering clear for the moment, and I will be a bit more wary of his advice in future. I am trying to invest in companies I know a little about. I bank with Barclays and M&S appeal to me as one of my favourite shops, and a good ex-University friend works at AFC, which gave me a degree of confidence in the company as a possible worthwhile risky shot. I intend to dip my toe in the water next week, though the b-in-law has suggested waiting with the bank until later into the summer. What is a short and what do you guys mean by closing them? | cathoad

06/1/2017 18:32 | beeezzz, thanks for that, so where will the ip rest? | holism
06/1/2017 16:48 | Looks like Shorts are closing...seems to happen most Fridays maybe anticipating RNS on Monday wouldn't want to get burnt....ha ha... With regard to electrodes, AFC have spent the last 10 years trying to concoct as one CEO put a cake mix substance that would not only be long lasting but also maintain a continuous level of output. When they achieved a 12 month period for this electrode I thought rather naively they had cracked it, yet we over 2 years on and still no product to sell. Testing is mainly done on pure hydrogen which is very rare in industrial situations. As NB pointed out there is more to FC than just the electrode agreed, yet the electrode is unique part of the FC which can be patented the rest electrolyte, etc etc are fairly well known and used in many FC's if they lost control of electrode that would be it. They are not using De Nora electrodes but AFC's, De Nora was brought in to provide expertise on the chemical and chemistry of electrodes. AFC has no IP regarding their FC then China could bash them out by the millions, as I have said before the electrode is the Key nothing else matters, and they are still testing today new variations, could be a long wait for any product to sell. "De Nora's experience in alkaline electro-catalysts and electro-chemistry, and AFC's experience in alkaline fuel cells are wholly complementary with the Joint Development Agreement benefitting both parties. Several new electrodes have been trialled at Dunsfold and had their short-term power performance evaluated before the programmes moves into durability testing. De Nora's electrodes have operated for many years in industrial environments globally. We believe the outcomes of this joint collaboration will therefore deliver a technology platform that further enhances the commercialisation timeline and success in the alkaline fuel cell space. Importantly, De Nora have had two of the world's leading electro-chemists working on this collaboration since August with positive results already beginning to be evidenced. The collaboration continues into 2017 and we look forward to providing further updates on the progress of this workstream in due course."" | beeezzz
