06/11/2009 12:24 | daihardtoo, If this is true (& I've no reason to doubt you) , then they should have reported their problems earlier. Deloittes should also have spotted such basic issues. Tbh, I can't think of any outcome here that won't management & deloittes in serious doo doo. They have seriously messed up here. | evaluate
06/11/2009 12:22 | Iomhere, I think it would. If you think it's in two places, then you believe that you have twice as many as you actually have. You would therefore be double counting every part where this had happened. | evaluate
06/11/2009 12:18 | ==================== dawsonpaul - 5 Nov'09 - 07:00 - 1823 of 1836 john - If they ship a part overseas, the part arrives and the recipient of this part adds it in to the "database", but it could still be recorded at the source location as well. So now we have 2 parts which are the same in 2 different locations. And you can see where this is going... ==================== But would that affect valuation? The total value of stock wouldn't depend on where it was but on invoiced and payment details. | iomhere
06/11/2009 11:57 | I was talking to someone with a contact inside the company. She had heard that there had been such big ongoing problems with their 'Parts Central' system that they had started to implement SAP. Due to the problems there were large numbers of stock errors being reported by the system, but they simply did not have enough resource to fix them. The integrity of their data was just getting increasingly bad. If these problems were recognised by her contact, they must have been equally apparent to Lewin/Bevan/Dodge/Do | daihardtoo
06/11/2009 10:34 | The board is reviewing the positions of ........... and Martin Dodge (Chief Operating Officer). This may be an unfortunately apposite surname if physical stock cannot be reconciled.... | vulgaris
06/11/2009 09:37 | Shareholders looking for light relief might like to look at AI.'s website, with useful snippets under such headings as "Right time.. Right place.. Right Quantity" (you sure about that?) and "A track record of Success". They have no job vacancies, I see, though speculative applications are invited if you are interested in their "Exceptional Performance". | martinc

05/11/2009 08:56 | Just filter it. HVS seems to have the intelligence of a 3 month old chimp with psychological problems. I've had hvs on filter for quite some time now and take a little pleasure in the thought of HVS rambling his spite to him/herself. | mdj8

05/11/2009 08:01 | Best way to earn a fat salary and a bonus to boot. Count stock that does not exist and then overvalue it. Nice. Will the Institute of Chartered Accountants be looking into Bevan's incompetence ? | hvs
05/11/2009 07:00 | john - apparently it all started on a excel spreadsheet - little 50k AIM company, then to an access database, then they got some dodgy developers in and their inventory system is, well, not an inventory system. If they ship a part overseas, the part arrives and the recipient of this part adds it in to the "database", but it could still be recorded at the source location as well. So now we have 2 parts which are the same in 2 different locations. And you can see where this is going... | dawsonpaul
04/11/2009 19:36 | I have just seen all this hitting the news. I know for a fact that a few years ago there was a stunning lack of data integrity in their stock management system used at the time (don't know if it is still used now - it was "Parts Central" - they were planning to move to using SAP, but don't know where they got to on that). One key problem which led to data integrity issues lay with the interfaces feeding the SM system. Data update errors were never rectified (well some were but the volume of errors was so huge there was not the time or manpower to do the fixing.) Someone at AI at the time told me if the stock market was aware of the data integrity issues it would affect the share price. Do they have the same problem today? To be fair I believe they were going to try to sort out the data integrity issues, but I don't know if they ever did. Colin Trupp, I believe, led the development of Parts Central. He was certainly instrumental in its development. | john219
04/11/2009 19:35 | Annoyingly, I nearly top sliced a couple of weeks ago. Like you say - there are a few out there who will be feeling even more foolish than we do. | evaluate
04/11/2009 19:21 | Evaluate It beggers belief that they could turn down that offer unless as you say they were aware what due dilly would uncover. Further beggers belief that the institutions full of professionals underlined the share price at £ 2.50 Makes me feel a bit better about being sucked in. Still up to a week ago, they did look way to cheap on published info so maybe it wasn't a well kept secret. | koolio
04/11/2009 18:16 | Whilst the Finance Director seems to have gone, I am glad there has been no announcement that Lewin has left the building. The least he can do is try to renegotiate with the banks and put the Co on some sort of footing if at all possible, before he goes. | mdj8
04/11/2009 16:41 | I can't believe they turned £7.20 down. Either they are stoopid - or they knew that new management would unravel their little scheme. Fraud or incompetence? Incompetence or fraud? | evaluate |
