You would think that one of AATs competitors would come in to buy them for 1p per share? With the debt that would make an enterprise valuation of say 40mill, surely that would be a great price to buy a well-known worldwide consultancy in a growth area, with all its skills base, while taking out a competitor?NAI

what do you IR released a RNS? you meant sent an email? there is big difference between these two. RNS can only be to public

Investor relations released a RNS to poster on LSE stating that company was very busy at the moment working on various matters which I presume including "solving" the pension issue, agreeing new bank terms and putting into action the strategy review that has taken place... although high risk I'm fairly confident that the results will try to draw a line under the various issues that has kept the share price this low.

Companies with pension liability problems are not unusual. I remember UNIQ very well. Its revenues were 100s of millions a year. Apparently when it reached the deal with its pension scheme it was referred to as a 'pension fund with a sandwich business attached'

Anyway - I would imagine there will be some considerable time and leeway allowed to sort it out and come to some arrangment.

Yes, and hopefully the company, trustees and pension regulator will be able to come to an agreement. The pension regulator must be very busy at the moment with circ 300 companies in the same position thanks to record low gilt yields.

Surely the problem at AAT is not the operational issues, which are surmountabl, and the share price should be much higher, but it is the pension fund liabilites which are holding the share price back?

I wonder if they have applied to the pensions regulator for a relaxation of terms?

FYI, despite what you might have seen in the press there is not a list of 300 schemes where a relaxation of the rules is to apply. This is a guesstimate put out by the regulator, the reality is that it is for the administrators of a scheme to submit a proposal to the regulator if they believe that they warrant consideration for a relaxation in respect of their scheme.
