App not always working on new iOS phone. Once deleted and reinstalled works for a limited time.

Until this week, I could leave a tab open on a trade archive, to check recent trades. This was very useful.

Now if I refresh the tab, it picks up on the ticker of the most recently read bulletin board, meaning retyping the ticker each time to go back to the original trades.

Is this an error, or a permanent change?

PUGUGLY, your idea makes sense but that won't stop the determined poster spreading disinformation.

About a pint of beer a year - Surely anyone interested in their savings would forego a pint a year to improve their returns.

The only other stock forum l know of similar to ADVFN is LSE (pretty good posters on there but doesn't seems as busy). Interactive investor sadly shuttered their forum, it was pretty active. I'm not a reddit fan and it's hard to find stock specific commentary.

Parts of ADVFN stock forums are very quiet for me as it is.

So if ADVFN start charging it might drive away free posters even further even if the fee is one off.

I guess it's a a balance, I'm sure ADVFN will want as many users as possible to drive their advertising revenue.

I think pretty well all genuine posters would agree wholeheartedly with henryatkin and PUGUGLY.

There are too many black posters who register and then trash threads, depart and register again under another name to continue having what they consider as fun and at times pasting false information.

Suggest they have to pay an administration/registration fee by credit card of say £10 p/a (about the same as a pint of beer).

This should improve the quality of the postings – give ADVFN a small amount of extra revenue – enable the FCA to track down market manipulators more easily. It should also improve the quality of the site in the judgement of potential advertisers and thus enable the site to be more attractive.

Why can't ADVFN adopt similar. I'd gladly pay a subscription if they did.

Add a policy to 'Edit' so that posts can't be edited after 5 minutes.

Mattjos, bulltradept, thank you for these suggestions. I have passed them to management.

Piperpeter, I am looking into the MEN data now.

Kind regards,

Chris

To ADVFN from a dissatisfied subscriber...

Why do you not respond to some subscriber's messages?

Why do you continue to display erroneous information about some companies when it has quite clearly been brought to your attention on many occasions?

Example...

Molecular Energies plc, MEN.

ADVFN state the wrong sector.
ADVFN state the wrong turnover.
ADVFN state the wrong profit.
ADVFN state the wrong EPS (earnings per share).
ADVFN state the wrong PE ratio (price to earnings).

Pp.

A poster called 'Charting Charlie', who may have been associated with ADVFN used to post certain categories of charts, such as...

52 week highs
high volume breakouts
Price rising above triple smas

...and many others.

It would be great if advfn could introduce a similar thing again.

Improvements For Advfn:

Hi Chris, Ruslan & Management,

Having been a long standing user and subscriber of your website, may I please make a suggestion.

As you will know by now the desktop function doesn't work due to Java finally being put to bed.

As this is an integral part of the website, it would be really appreciated if your developers could reinstate this in html now please (say for four charts simultaneously (instead of more)), given that the charts were only in the past coded for JAVA / Java-web-start.

Hoping for a positive response,

Peter (bulltradept)

It'd be good if you enable a feature/function so could automatically delete posters/posts such as this (that disrupt threads with endless inane/insane nonsense).

Is anonymity still needed?
Some of the problems come from multi-handled posters.
Just a few like minded individuals can dilute a thread to the point of oblivion.
Look for example at the ODX thread. Their are dozens of others.

Some aren't even interested in stocks at all, and come here to plug their own agendas on whatever subject turns them on. Anti-vax has been popular, although many other conspiracy theories have their moment!

Any chance of ADVFN running a monthly and annual Share investment competition for users to enter with a bit of prize money.
Lots of individual thread do such things but, an ADVFN community competition would be great and I am sure ADVFN could find a way of monetising the data collated in terms of sharing with accredited third parties thereby making it self-financing.
Would definitely increase user engagement
