Positive trading update from Solid State today with shares up 12%. This company clearly understand the value of newsflow ....................! Similar products and market so hopefully year end results from APC should follow this trend.

Rapid growth predicted for digital signage and we can provide the infrastructure:

The digital signage market is growing fast and not only in retail. Digital signage is used across several industries, often in a customer-facing context but also in Industrial Internet of Things applications where information from tagged items can be displayed.

Started buying a few.

If that chart is not at the end of the first step in an uptrend, then I don't know what is, as its also accompanied by actual signs of recovery in the business. Not buying vast amounts yet, as I imagine distribution can still be affected negatively by Brexit stuff, even if the demand is there.

Not sure about frothy. As far as I can see there is temporary froth in the gambly loss-maker-amazing-new-thing stocks while the rest of the market has been marking time for a long time. I'm guessing larger shares that do well for a while and then drop are doing that because in a sideways market (because of consumer worries+brexit) there is more trading and buy and holding feels risky.

At the moment, I'm not sure how long would have to buy and hold for, to see a permanently higher price, because we can't see where the heck we are going politically or economically.

Yes and some of these headhunted heavyweights don't have ideas of their own...they get it from outside sources aka...consultants, advisors, investment bankers etc etc and they have to pay for it...

Looking back to when the 'trouble' started in 2015/16 ish, looks like they were turning over 22.8mln and admin was at £7.2mln.

Latest was 17mln and 4.5mln, so a drastic reduction in admin and that's without including the exceptional costs from the earlier years.

So that will cover a couple of extra directors if needed without much pain !

I also believe very strongly that there are very often people on the ladder who can do the top jobs just as well as a headhunted heavyweight. The idea, much touted by the larger businesses that they need to pay £xxxxxx to get good enough people is just a lazy way of sustaining the status quo and its supported by the greedy fees that the recruiters charge. Merrygoround, noses in troughs etc. etc.

I don’t see any reason to rush into appointments but trust that as and when required they will appoint the correct people.

With every business division appearing to hit targets I suspect some good management people have been acquired along with their companies in the quest to hit this mooted 50m. If this is so maybe they would be able to step up to director level if that is required with little extra admin cost involved. Regarding the question of governance I feel we fall short and maybe the reason we are light on II’s?

playful- should we be factoring increased admin costs in if additional Directors are required, or will this be covered in synergies? Any idea?

Its a fair point imo

It does seem a little strange that they haven't yet found any suitable addition to the Board from the acquisitions at least.

2 Exec +1 Non Exec wouldn't support >£50m Revs surely?

How does it fit with governance?

Interesting looking back over the financials and apparently bloated admin. costs - looks like they've knocked about 35% off, while turnover hasn't dropped anything like as much % wise.
