          Substantial Shareholder Notification
                            
                            
The  Company was informed on 18 August 1997 that Schroder
Investment  Management Limited (SIML)  no  longer  has  a
notifiable  interest in the Company for the  purposes  of
Part VI of the Companies Act 1985, since its interest now
represents  less than 10% of the issued share capital  of
the Company.

The  notification  has been made by  SIML  on  behalf  of
itself and:

i)   Schroder  Unit  Trust  Limited,  a  wholly   owned
     subsidiary of SIML

ii)  Schroder Capital Management International Limited, a
     wholly owned subsidiary of SIML

iii) Schroder  Capital Management International Inc.,  an
     affiliated company of SIML and;

iv)  Schroders plc, the holding company of SIML.
