SeaWorld Orlando's newest attraction, opening 16 June, is set to feature a special queueing method:

"SeaWorld is working on a system that allows guests to bypass standing in line for that attraction. The company gave few details Thursday. “We know that’s something that our guests want, to make sure they’re getting the most out of their day,” said experience design manager Erik Essig."

Unintentional cause & effect: So by alleviating the boredom & inconvenience of having to queue, guests are becoming bored because they aren't queueing! I guess one out of two ain't bad..(now who sang that). It's now down the Park operators to figure out more activities which not only keep the punters happy by alleviating that boredom, but also add a second/third string revenue stream.spud

Re: Volcano Bay, a number of visitors are getting bored during all the time they're not standing in line.

Purely for the psychological benefit of the patron, perhaps the ideal queueless theme park will end up being a blend of virtual ride reservations and optional standby lines (to eat up time in between ride reservations).

Very true Spud

Has anybody heard the new wristband is doing at Volcano Bay please? The only negative comments I have seen were:
- a comment that that the wristband did not tell the time
- somebody moaning their wristband (the band itself not the device) broke twice whilst they were at VB

In case anyone missed it, Hargreave Hale have increased their holding to above 10% to 2.252m shares:

ACSO are also pushing their solutions for cultural attractions, museums etc with a new video:

I missed this similar push for business in the casino sector:

Page 9: 2016 worldwide attendance was up 5.4% at Six Flags theme parks and 1.2% at Merlin theme parks.

Page 26: "Big data helps uncover big revenue opportunities. It is a business maxim that it costs less to motivate existing customers to spend more, than to add new customers. Doing so also frees up cash flow for reinvestment, and in the attractions industry, continual reinvestment is the eternal driver of repeat business. Other operators are getting onboard the big-data train. Universal’s new Volcano Bay, for example, has a modern enterprise system with RFID technology that will support flexibility for guests entering and exiting and enable more data collection."

The Tapu Tapu wristbands seem to be working well:

"Technology comes into play as every guest is given a wristband, called Tapu Tapu, to utilize through out the park. Not only can you link a credit card to it to buy food, drinks, and souvenirs, etc. but also it essentially holds your place in line on the rides. Tap the band for a ride at the designated kiosk and the Tapu Tapu will "tap" you like an Apple watch does to alert you when it's your turn to ride. No more waiting in long lines, herded like cattle, in the heat for what seems like hours. Tap, go get some food, relax on a beach chair, wade in the wave pool, etc. and simply return to the ride when your wristband alters you that it is your turn. The only downfall I could find with the device is that it doesn't tell you the time."

Great stuff 1001011, cheers. The big Universal launch is today - there should be loads more publicity.

The rest of the theme park/attraction universe will be watching with interest before placing their orders for Prism :o))

The media tried out TapuTapu today. The identification numbers on the devices are registered to Accesso Technology with the relevant government agency.

The Volcano Bay "front gate" is running some Accesso software because the same people that scan your ticket give you your TapuTapu.

The locker rentals require TapuTapu to purchase.

Riv, I noticed that too. The Company is extremely generous when it comes to rewarding its senior management with options, which is all well and good when things are flying along.....I didn't vote hence the outstanding, but if we become becalmed (which I don't believe will happen) this will be a different matter. The salaries here aren't massive (hence the options) but 21st century shareholders are becoming increasingly 'sceptical' regarding large bonuses. At a 35% annual growth rate, I don't believe atm the company has to overly worry about any revolt..spud

Cheers - that's a very useful and thorough report. TB's answers have the ring of truth about them, and it seems that LTIP allocation will fall soon enough.

Particularly encouraging comments as follows:

"Steve Brown (CEO) said the system was due to go live shortly, with the system performing well in tests. Steve noted that Accesso hoped to use this first site as a demonstrator to help potential clients understand how the system works. Steve felt once clients had been shown the technology it would sell itself."

And re potential acquisitions:

"Tom replied that after a lull to let the last batch of new company’s bed in, the board is now keeping its eyes and ears open for acquisitions that would add value to Accesso."

Looks like there was a hefty shareholder rebellion against the company share option plan and LTIP, although the votes all got passed.

The "extended close period" utilised for announcing the additional share awards is certainly debatable at best. In view of the magnificent performance of the company - obviously largely due to management - I'm loathe to over-criticise, but hopefully the votes will make management think again and re-evaluate the schemes.

Very encouraging AGM statement...

- a "strong" start to the year
- loads of new contract wins, including a biggie re Xcaret's 7 attractions in Mexico, which are hugely popular (I've been to one of them myself!) and others like CNN and the NFL experience
- the global Merlin rollout is going well
- the Ingresso acquisition looks good

And importantly:

"We have also completed our first accesso LoQueuesm installation featuring our accesso Prism technology and expect the system to go-live imminently."

I think we know what this refers to! We should expect a big RNS in the next week or so imo.....
