The chattering analysts may have a downer on EMs and anybody with an interest in them like ADN but at least one of their non-execs thinks this is a good entry point. Richard Mully bought 15000 shares at 400p yesterday.

That's what you get with a high beta share with massive exposure to emerging markets! But with Aberdeen it can rise as fast as it falls & once the market turns and emerging markets recover, this will lead the way in the rebound.

Perhaps it's not for widows and orphans, but it's still a great company, hugely profitable with growing dividend.

Highly liquid too, so great for spread-betting for those who prefer to trade short-term rather than buy and hold.

bigboots, I'm not surprised by that - most of their EM & Asia Investment Trusts are down significantly over recent months and trading at growing discounts to NAV.

I sometimes like to go against the crowd though and sooner or later EM will be back in favour. Not really bothered about short-term price fluctuations with this one as it's in my SIPP for the long-term.

Hearing there are lots of EM outflows hitting ADM and other EM funds - be careful

I've just topped up - Asia & EM badly out of favour right now, but in my view that makes Aberdeen a great contrarian buy. Once the acquisition goes through, the Asia / EM weighting will decrease significantly and I don't think that's fully reflected in the price yet.

As you say OXMAN, may be some short-term pain here, but I'm in this one for the long-term as I believe it's an excellent company on the verge of becoming a truly global asset manager. In the meantime, I'm happy to collect the decent and rapidly-growing dividends.

Technically 350p looks like a solid support level - if it gets near to that, I'll be buying more!

Ouch. Settling in for some short term pain.

Disappointing, but best in SIPP.

can't see much upside until China starts getting its act together - my 100% gain is down to 80% but I'm in for the long haul.

A very good sign, wish I'd had enough courage to buy a few about 8.30 this morning...

Rebounded very strongly from the early morning 4% mark-down, which is really positive for a FTSE 100 share, suggesting that there are plenty of buyers waiting to pick these up on any weakness.

I really don't see any major concerns or great surprises in the statement and another positive is that the blended fee rate has increased.

Looks like early fall overdone thankfully. AUM falling slightly not a surprise. Would of been nice to buy at the low but I rarely manage that. Emerging markets out of fashion but that will change. Happy to sit tight for now.

For me the positives are that sooner or later Asia & emerging markets will rebound strongly & as a holder of several Aberdeen Investment Trusts I agree that their long-term performance is outstanding. This is a short-term blip, not particularly unexpected in view of the performance of the main markets which drive their fund performance.

The other positive is the SWIP acquisition with the future benefits in terms of diversification & signifiantly increased FUM not yet reflected fully in the price in my view.

Short-term - expect some share price weakness and continuing volatility. Long-term, a cracking investment. I hold this in my SIPP with a long-term view - just check out the last results statement for evidence of what they can do in difficult markets, very impressive EPS & dividend growth.

Looking at the daily chart, the share price seems to rangebound for now, moving between 450-500p over the last few months. Once it breaks out (hopefully to the upside!) there's blue sky ahead.

Pleased to see share price slowly recovering. Spotting the bottom is always difficult. Guess it was just a spell of profit taking on far east concerns.

It's had a strong run of late so probably due a retrace. I had a stop in place to lock in profits, which was hit yesterday. Decided to buy back in at a lower price though, I just think the long-term potential here is so solid. If you look at any long-term chart for Aberdeen, it's evident that the share-price is in a strong uptrend.

Aberdeen seems like a really well-run outfit, and the growth in EPS and dividend in 2013 were excellent. Once the SWIP business is integrated, Aberdeen will be a truly global player in asset management. I expect even better things ahead and am confident the EPS / dividend will keep on growing strongly.

Volatility to be expected here, as with all high beta shares, so you have to be able to hold your nerve with this one, and as always do your own research!

Seems to be clawing back early fall. The drop this week must attract some buyers now surely?
