03/2/2009 17:48 | Hello Guys I got into a little trouble with a spreadbet company early last year; managed to run up a debt on futures shorts, had a paltry credit limit, yet they let my positions run badly out of control and even allowed me to move stops whilst on margin call. Anyway I accept responsibility for my actions yet also feel they should shoulder some blame. I paid them 20% of the debt owed and then agreed a small monthly payment subject to a review after 6 months. Well, now I have been served with a Statutory Demand for the full outstanding debt - Which I haven't got, so basically I'm stuffed and need help quick. Can anyone point me in the right direction (sensible answers only) Thank you | twigden
21/2/2007 10:56 | The Financial Times is writing a report on spread betting. They are looking at the new breed of spread betters ie not the City traders but the private investors. If you would be interested in taking part as a case study email me at francescad@advfn.com with your name and telephone number and brief details about the type/s of spread betting you do, how often you spread bet, why you spread bet etc. If you get published mentioning ADVFN, we'll arrange a free month's upgrade (or a month free for UK Platinum users). Thanks in advance, Francesca | francescad

21/11/2002 15:49 | PS you can hold down control while selecting to select discontiguous (separate) areas one after the other. i dont know if this works with Set Print Area PPS thats ok! | captain swing
21/11/2002 15:46 | Captain Swing Thanks - but I think that my 'salvation' in now at hand (see post 12). | ian24
21/11/2002 15:45 | If its Excel, use Set Print area in the File menu You have to select the area first, then Set Print Area sorry if someones said this | captain swing
21/11/2002 15:45 | Mister_Mash I think that that is the answer - I have now looked up 'hide' on 'help' and I am sure I can take it on from there. Thank you very much. | ian24
21/11/2002 15:42 | Jessica I have, as far as I can tell, 'Works' spreadsheet on XP (non-professional). Edit I think Mister Mash has come up with the solution and I am investigating. Thanks again for your help. | ian24
21/11/2002 15:21 | The other option is to right click on the columns you dont want to print and hide em, then print whats left. Mash | mister_mash
21/11/2002 15:21 | I can select and print only the columns I want. You may have changed your settings or something. I'm using MS Excel (from Office XP Proffesional). What are you using ? | ![]() jessicaf
21/11/2002 15:19 | J. Thanks - I'll pursue it later - (now back to 'Trading). VS I suspect that you may be correct, but it does seem odd that if I wanted to print only, say, 5% of a spreadsheet, I would have to go thro' 'hiding' all the rest. | ian24
21/11/2002 15:14 | I don't think Windows applications will allow you to only print selected columns, you'll probably get everything in between the first and last columns you have selected. Try using "Hide" to hide the columns you don't want to print. | vs
21/11/2002 15:10 | I can't see what you are doing wrong then. However, the only thing I can suggest is that you create a new 'sheet/tab'. Then copy all information into the new 'sheet/tab' leaving no rows between them. You can just print it straight off from the new sheet/tab. Hope this works, J. | ![]() jessicaf
21/11/2002 14:51 | Jessica I hold down CTRL, click (literally) on the A at the top of column A, and then, continuing to hold down CTRL, click on the H - but this causes column H to be highlighted and column A to be 'de-highlighted, and when I click on Print Preview it only shows column H. As an alternative, lets say I held down CTRL, clicked on D6, then continuing to hold down CTRL, clicked on H4 - that then deselects D6, so I am still unable to hold (or keep) two 'bits' at the same time to enable me to print them. (I trust that this is not taking too much of your time.) | ian24
21/11/2002 14:36 | Are you selecting certain cells in the columns or the whole columns ? | ![]() jessicaf
21/11/2002 14:12 | JessicaF Thanks - but I can not get it to work (I just know that I MUST be doing something stupid). I can select a range by holding down CTRL, and 'dragging' and I can select the whole spreadsheet by selecting all, but I somehow (still) can not select 'random' columns. I hold down CTRL, select A, move to H (keeping CTRL held down) and select, which causes A to become 'de-selected' Weird! | ian24
21/11/2002 13:54 | Hold down CNTL and keep it pressed down as you highlight both columns. Then print selection. Let me know if it works. J. | ![]() jessicaf
21/11/2002 13:38 | How do I select 'bits' of a spreadsheet for printing? Say that I wish to select column A and column H for printing, but not columns B to G - I know what the answer SHOULD be, viz. 'Select' (click on) column A which then becomes highlighted, hold down CTRL, then move mouse arrow to column H. However when I then click on column H (which then becomes highlighted) I 'lose' column A and can only print column H ! Am I missing something? - I know that this is elementary stuff but so far I can not find the answer. The spreadsheet is in MS Works. Any ideas? TIA | ian24
