Baidu Electric Vehicles confirmed

Tesla faces a new foe as China's search engine Baidu allies with Volvo's owner Geely to make electric cars.

Baidu, which already successfully runs a huge open-source autonomous-driving platform in China (Robo buses and taxis) plans to use Geely’s manufacturing and development capabilities, according to sources. It joins a field of Chinese carmakers backed by tech giants racing to challenge the dominance of Tesla.

Baidu highlighted various applications and milestones for its world-leading autonomous driving technologies including an update on Apollo Go, which operates robotaxis and robobuses in multiple cities. Already operational in Beijing, Changsha, and Cangzhou, Apollo Go has carried over 210,000 passengers, and plans to expand to 30 Chinese cities over the next three years. Baidu also announced a partnership with ride-hailing app Shouqi (China’s Uber) to allow users to hail a Robotaxi through the app, opening up a brand new model of commercialisation.

Baidu is the best performer in my U.S. long-term portfolio and since early 09 the chart is a dream.

Can it be that ADVFN BB users don't invest in US-quoted shares, or what? Done OK in GOOG, for that matter, in the same sector, but BIDU has been outstanding.

Any opinions anyone for the lack of interest on this sophisticated BB? Perhaps this thread died along with a load of singed bear flies, but can't see much interest on any other free thread, either - tho tpaulbeamont does appear to have signalled the breakout spot on in Feb 09 on this thread. Well done, sir!

This is the Chinese state-approved answer to Google, which has been half-strangled by the commissars of this neo-capitalist empire, surely leaving the way clear for the local boy.
