DirecTV (DTV) is one of several companies considering a bid for Vivendi SA's (VIVEF, VIV.FR) Brazilian telecom unit, Bloomberg News reported, citing two people familiar with the matter.
A deadline for initial bids hasn't been set, one of the people told Bloomberg.
Reuters reported in July that Vivendi was open to a sale of GVT, which sources said could be valued at up to 8.5 billion euros.
