Shares of Lockheed Martin and other major defense contractors jumped as the war between Israeli forces and Hamas militants entered its third day.
Lockheed Martin's stock was up 8% at $432.44 in early trading, while shares of Northrop Grumman rose 10% to $466.99. General Dynamics increased 7.7% to $236.81.
Shares of RTX advanced 3.9% to $72.49 and shares of Leidos Holdings, which provides technology services to the defense industry, were up 3.1% at $93.82.
American depositary receipts of the U.K.-based BAE Systems were up 3.4% at $50.53.
