Imaflex Broadens Patent Application

MONTREAL, April 9, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Imaflex Inc. ("Imaflex" or the "Corporation") is pleased to report the broadening of its patent portfolio for its revolutionary active ingredient releasing multilayered film technology to bags.

Imaflex together with Bayer Innovation GmbH, co-developer and co-inventor, have included this new bag invention in the initial provisional patent application for multilayered active ingredient releasing films. This was done prior to the international patent applications in the top 25 vegetable production countries of the world.

Imaflex engineers have designed a versatile process which allows fabricating bags which are either able to release agrochemicals, like nematicides, fungicides, insecticides and herbicides to protect crops during their growth period or able to release preservatives to also protect them beyond harvest.

Substituting agrochemicals by preservatives in the bags will enhance the preservation of the freshly harvested fruits and vegetables by releasing natural, or artificial, antimicrobials and antioxidants as active ingredients to prevent decay or spoilage in all areas of the food supply chain
