Bell Copper Corporation ("Bell Copper" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:BCU) announced today that Dr. Timothy Marsh has resigned as the Company's President to pursue other business opportunities. The Company wishes to thank Dr. Marsh for his contributions to the Company and extends its best wishes to him in his future endeavours. The Company also announces the appointment of Lonnie Kirsh as Corporate Secretary, subject to regulatory approval. Mr. Kirsh is a principal of Acuity Corporate Securities Lawyers, where he practices in the area of corporate finance, securities and mining law. Mr. Kirsh has over 25 years of securities and capital markets experience including, as Senior Manager of Company Listings at the Toronto Stock Exchange and legal counsel in the Corporate Finance Branch of the Ontario Securities Commission. His expertise will be particularly helpful to the Company as it works to reduce debt and position itself for future growth. Mr. Michael Werner, CEO of Bell Copper, stated: "With the present market restricting junior mining company growth, we have taken the necessary steps to reduce our corporate overhead and, with the assistance of our new management team, will continue to reduce expenditures wherever possible. Following the anticipated completion of the sale of our Van Dyke project, we believe that we will have sufficient funds to take advantage of new opportunities that will be better suited to the Company. To this end, the board of directors has broadened Bell's mandate to look for opportunities not only in copper, but gold and silver as well, with a preference for stable political regimes." The Company also announces the adoption of a new policy, similar to policies and by-laws recently adopted by a number of Canadian public companies, that requires advance notice to the Company for nominations of directors other than by management, through a requisition for a meeting or by way of a shareholder proposal. The policy is not intended to discourage non-management director nominations but rather seeks transparency in the election of directors by putting all parties nominating directors, including management, on an equal footing. The new policy requires the same information to be provided to shareholders within the same timeframe for non-management nominees to enable shareholders to exercise their voting rights for the election of directors on an informed basis and not permit directors to be nominated and elected without the knowledge and opportunity of all shareholders to vote on the election of such nominees. The new policy is effective immediately and will be placed before shareholders for ratification at the next meeting of shareholders of the Company. A copy of the new policy has been filed and is available under the Company's profile at www.sedar.com.
