A German court said Wednesday that it has charged eight more Volkswagen AG employees in relation to the car maker's diesel scandal, including managers.
The people, who haven't been named, are accused of having promoted, supported or at least not prevented the installation of an illegal shut-off device in the engine-management system of diesel vehicles, according to the public prosecutor in Braunschweig.
According to the prosecutor, the car maker's revenues--and ultimately the bonus payments for the eight employees--were significantly impacted by the false test results achieved through the software.
Earlier in September, the District Court of Braunschweig ordered former Volkswagen Chief Executive Martin Winterkorn to stand trial over the emissions scandal.
