Volkswagen AG said Tuesday that its namesake brand returned to profitability in South and North America in 2021.
The German car maker said full-year group revenue in South America rose to 11.04 billion euros ($12.08 billion) from EUR8.63 billion and increased to EUR45.31 billion from EUR36.81 billion in North America.
Last Friday, Volkswagen released key figures for 2021 that showed group operating profit for the period jumping to EUR19.28 billion from EUR9.68 billion thanks to favorable pricing, better sales mix and reduced overhead costs.
More detailed figures released Tuesday showed its premium car brand Audi and sports-car maker Porsche contributing EUR5.55 billion and EUR5.01 billion respectively in operating profit last year.
