RNS Number:6356R Tecteon PLC 04 November 2003 4th November 2003 TECTEON PLC Contract Win Tecteon plc ("Tecteon"), the software developer for the voice quality and telecommunications markets, announces that it has been awarded an initial contract worth some US$ 40,000 for preliminary field testing of its echo cancellation software by KT-NGN ("Korean Telecom Next Generation Networks"). Tecteon won this contract in a competitive tender involving other major echo cancellation providers. KT-NGN is a division of KT Corporation, formerly known as Korean Telecom. KT Corporation ranks as the fourth largest company in South Korea by market capitalisation. It accounts for more than 90% of the fixed-line market for local calls and carries about half of all international calls. It also has around 50% of the broadband market and nearly a third of the mobile market, via KTF, the country's second largest mobile operator. Masoud Alikhani, Chairman of Tecteon, commented: "Pending the outcome of the initial testing, the scope of this deal could be considerable. We will be working very closely with KT-NGN to provide a bespoke solution for their network, with a particular emphasis on VoIP(1), a market where the number of subscribers is expected to grow more than sixfold between now and 2007(2)." A major advantage of VoIP and Internet telephony is that it avoids the tolls charged by ordinary telephone services.
