Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has a reached a settlement with "30 Rock" star Tracy Morgan and other plaintiffs who were injured in a June 2014 crash on the New Jersey Turnpike.
A Wal-Mart truck hit a van carrying Mr. Morgan and others. Comedian James McNair, a passenger in the van, died at the scene.
In a joint statement, Wal-Mart and Benedict P. Morelli, an attorney for Mr. Morgan, Ardley Fuqua and Jeffrey Millea, said the settlement terms are confidential.
"Our thoughts continue to go out to everyone that was involved in the accident," said Greg Foran, Walmart U.S. president and chief executive. "While we know there is nothing that can change what happened, Walmart has been committed to doing what's right to help ensure the well-being of all of those who were impacted by the accident," Mr. Foran said.
Wal-Mart driver Kevin J. Roper of Jonesboro, Ga., was charged with vehicular homicide last June. A criminal complaint said Mr. Roper hadn't slept for more than 24 hours, drawing attention to the trucking industry's protocols for employee rest. At the time, a Wal-Mart spokeswoman said the company believed Mr. Roper was operating within the federal hours of service regulations and said Wal-Mart was cooperating fully with law-enforcement agencies.
