UnitedHealth Group Inc. (UNH) reported a 16.5% increase in earnings with its adjusted earnings coming ahead of analysts' expectations.
The nation's largest health insurer reported fourth-quarter earnings of $3.54 billion, or $3.68 a share, compared with $3.04 billion, or $3.10 a share, a year earlier.
Adjusted earnings were $3.90 a share. Analysts polled by FactSet expected $3.78 a share.
The company posted revenue of $60.9 billion, compared with $58.41 billion a year earlier. Analysts were expecting revenue of $60.96 billion.
