CNN to Pay $76 Million to Resolve Long-Running Union-Busting Dispute

CNN agreed to pay $76 million in back pay to resolve a long-running dispute over whether it fired workers in what amounted to a union-busting move.

The agreement, announced Friday, is the largest monetary remedy in the history of the National Labor Relations Board, the NLRB said.

The dispute dates to 2003 when the cable news giant terminated a contract with Team Video Services, which had been providing CNN video services in Washington, D.C., and New York City. CNN then hired a series of workers to do the same work, without recognizing or bargaining with the two unions that had represented the TVS employees.

CNN is a unit of AT&T Inc.'s (T) WarnerMedia.
