ATLANTA, Nov. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Georgia Power announced today that the company has launched a new digital initiative, ON Georgia Power Lakes, to help the thousands of visitors to its lake properties better plan their visit and share their experiences online. New online resources available from Georgia Power as part of this initiative include an enhanced www.GeorgiaPowerLakes.com and four new Facebook communities segmented by lake location.

The enhanced www.GeorgiaPowerLakes.com includes detailed information about all of Georgia Power's properties, including facilities and amenities, local attractions and water safety information. Visitors can also check current lake conditions and camp site information, as well as browse fish guides for each of the lakes.

"Every day, we work to ensure that residents who live on our lakes, as well as guests who visit, have the best experience possible," said Mike Clanton, vice president of Georgia Power's Land Department.  "The new online resources are a great way to connect with lake residents and guests to make sure they have the information needed to enjoy their time on the water."

Georgia Power is encouraging fans of the company's lake properties to "like" their favorite lake on Facebook to receive the latest news and information on local events and lake conditions. The communities were also created to allow lake residents and guests to share their experiences and personal tips for a great visit.  The company's new Facebook pages are:

  • Facebook.com/NorthGeorgiaLakes (Lakes Burton, Seed, Rabun, Tugalo, Yonah and Tallulah Falls)
  • Facebook.com/WestGeorgiaLakes (Lakes Harding, Lake Oliver, Worth, Goat Rock Lake, North Highlands)
  • Facebook.com/CentralGeorgiaLakes (Lakes Jackson and Juliette)
  • Facebook.com/EastGeorgiaLakes (Lakes Oconee and Sinclair)

Georgia Power is the largest non-governmental provider of recreation facilities in Georgia, providing recreational opportunities year round at more than a dozen lakes across the state. In addition to its lakes, Georgia Power also operates campgrounds and other recreation properties for outdoor enthusiasts – more than 40 in all.
