PNM Resources Donates $50,000 Toward Hurricane Ike Relief

Donation to American Red Cross Targets Gulf Coast Residents Impacted by Storm 


ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Sept. 22  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- PNM Resources and its family of companies serving customers in New Mexico and Texas donated $50,000 today to the American Red Cross and its efforts to provide relief to victims of Hurricane Ike in the Gulf Coast of Texas.

"Our thoughts are certainly with the thousands of families and individuals impacted by Hurricane Ike," said Jeff Sterba, chairman and CEO of PNM Resources.  "The American Red Cross has an impressive history of responding quickly and effectively to disasters of this type, and everyone at PNM Resources hopes that this $50,000 donation makes a difference in the lives of the people who need assistance."

PNM Resources is the parent company of TNMP, First Choice Power and PNM and serves electricity to an estimated 859,000 homes and businesses in New Mexico and Texas.  TNMP is the energy provider for approximately 115,000 customers in the Gulf Coast area, all of whom were affected by Hurricane Ike.

Last week, PNM dispatched 45 linemen and 27 utility vehicles from Albuquerque, N.M., to provide mutual assistance to TNMP in its effort to restore power to customers.  So far, nearly 700 crew members from a variety of utilities have assembled in TNMP's service territory and have successfully restored power to approximately 82 percent of its customers.
