Marathon Petroleum Corp. (MPC) on Thursday reported above-normal flaring at its Martinez refinery in northern California.
In a statement to the California Emergency Management Agency, the refinery said the emissions-flaring of more than 500 pounds of sulfur dioxide happened Thursday morning and has ended.
The 161,000-barrel-a-day Marathon Martinez refinery, formerly known as the Tesoro Martinez refinery, is about 25 miles northeast of Oakland.
