LAS VEGAS, Nov. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Wounded warriors and their guests – more than 70 from around the U.S. – will be treated to a VIP Veterans Day weekend as MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM), in conjunction with American Airlines and the USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore, rolls out the red carpet in Las Vegas.

The five-day event, Nov. 13-17, is "A Salute to the Troops" weekend and includes a "Wall of Gratitude" where hundreds of MGM Resorts employees will gather to welcome and thank the veterans as they parade through The Mirage Hotel & Casino upon the group's arrival. There will also be a special welcome dinner, and excursions in and around Las Vegas and Southern Nevada. Special stops include: Terry Fator: The VOICE of Entertainment at The Mirage, Cirque du Soleil's "O" at Bellagio Resort & Casino and a concert by Gary Sinise and the LT. Dan Band. Skydiving and helicopter tours in the Las Vegas area are also part of the plans.

"We are honored to partner with American Airlines and the USO-Metro to host these brave veterans and their loved ones who have sacrificed so much to preserve our safety and freedom," said Jim Murren, Chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International. "It is our hope that this year's 'Salute to the Troops' weekend conveys our company's deep respect and gratitude to these heroes by showing them the very best our city and MGM Resorts have to offer."

American Airlines will furnish chartered air travel and other support during "A Salute to the Troops" weekend, while MGM Resorts International and its properties will provide accommodations, meals, entertainment, and other amenities.

The weekend kicks off Friday morning at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport with a send-off celebration for the wounded warriors, veterans and their guests. They will board an American Airlines special flight with planned gate festivities and a water cannon salute to our veteran heroes.

"On behalf of our nation's wounded troops and their caregivers, I can tell you that MGM Resorts' amazing generosity and support means a great deal to those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom," said Elaine Rogers, president and CEO of the USO-Metro. "We're incredibly thankful to MGM Resorts for helping us show the gratitude of the American people for our troops and their families."

When the VIPs arrive in Las Vegas, they will receive a police escort from McCarran International Airport to The Mirage.
