Energizer Holdings Inc. (ENR) will close its feminine-care products facility in Montreal by early 2017.
The site has about 430 employees. Energizer has more than 13,000 workers overall.
The closing, part of previously announced restructuring efforts, is a "difficult but necessary decision to maintain the company's position in this highly competitive business," Energizer said Tuesday.
Production will be consolidated into a Delaware facility.
The Montreal site was part of the October purchase of the Stayfree, Carefree and o.b. brands in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean from Johnson & Johnson (JNJ).
Energizer announced a restructuring plan in late 2012 and expanded the effort in January 2014, projecting total savings of $350 million.
In April, the company said it would split into two publicly traded companies by separating its ailing battery business from its better performing personal-care business, home to brands including Schick and Banana Boat.
