International Business Machines Corp. said it is creating a cybersecurity center for U.S. federal clients in light of current and future cybersecurity threats.
The company Wednesday said the IBM Center for Government Security will host workshops focused on issues like cloud security. The center will be at IBM's offices in downtown Washington, D.C., IBM said.
The center's advisory group includes Tony Scott, a former U.S. chief information officer; Curt Duke, a former information security and cybersecurity lead for the National Security Agency; and Kiersten Todt, a former cybersecurity adviser for former President Barack Obama.
Meatpacker JBS SA was recently hit by a ransomware attack that took a big chunk of U.S. beef-and-pork processing offline, sending buyers scrambling for alternatives and raising pressure on meat supplies. The attack is the latest in a growing number to hit a range of businesses and institutions, including hospitals, the oil industry and local water supplies.
