SAO PAULO--The Brazilian unit of International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) will assume the area of support and maintenance of the hardware and software of Scopus Tecnologia Ltda, a company fully controlled by Brazil's giant bank Banco Bradesco SA (BBD).
Under the accord, IBM will provide those services for Scopus clients, including Bradesco, after the approval by the local antitrust authority, the bank said. It didn't unveil financial terms of the accord.
"Scopus will be focused in the area of system development, security and innovation. On the other hand, IBM will assume our area of support and maintenance of hardware and software, since we decided that this is not our core business," said Mauricio Machado de Minas, Bradesco's vice president and president of Scopus.
Scopus posted net revenue worth 600 million Brazilian reais ($270 million) in 2013. Its main client is Bradesco, while it also provides service for companies in telecommunication and financial sector in Brazil.
