NEW YORK, Jan. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Strauss Law P.L.L.C., a litigation firm, has commenced an investigation into FedEx Corporation ("FedEx" or the "Company") to determine whether the Company's Officers and Directors have breached their fiduciary duties owed to the Company and its shareholders.

FedEx is an American global courier delivery services company. FedEx provides transportation, e-commerce, and business services internationally and is the operator of the world's largest cargo airline.

On August 14, 2014, the Department of Justice ("DOJ") filed a superseding indictment against FedEx for drug-trafficking charges alleging that the Company used its shipping services to deliver prescription drugs for illegal Internet pharmacies from at least 2004 through the present. According to the DOJ, FedEx delivered drugs from Internet pharmacies that supplied pills to customers who filled out online questionnaires and were never examined by doctors.

The DOJ further alleges that FedEx repeatedly ignored warnings by the Drug Enforcement Administration ("DEA"), the Food and Drug Administration ("FDA"), and members of Congress.  The indictment alleges that FedEx knew that such pharmacies used its services and that FedEx took steps to protect its business by setting up special sales classifications for Internet pharmacies. According to a statement from the DOJ, FedEx could face a potential fine of $1.6 billion.
