MOLINE, Ill., March 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Deere & Company (NYSE: DE) is one of the World's Most Ethical Companies according to the Ethisphere Institute, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices.

The listing by the Ethisphere Institute is in its 11th year and Deere is among only 13 companies that has been named each year to the honor. This year, 124 companies were selected for the designation. The companies span five continents, 19 countries and 52 industry sectors.

"Integrity is an important core value at John Deere that we emphasize throughout our business with all employees," said Sam Allen, chairman and chief executive officer. "We continue to seek the highest ethical standards as we know this is one reason John Deere is celebrating 180 years of doing business."

The World's Most Ethical Company assessment is based upon the Ethisphere Institute's Ethics Quotient framework which offers a quantitative way to assess a company's performance in an objective, consistent and standardized way. The methodology is weighted into five key categories: ethics and compliance program, corporate citizenship and responsibility, culture of ethics, governance and leadership, innovation and reputation.

"Over the last eleven years we have seen the shift in societal expectations, constant redefinition of laws and regulations and the geo-political climate. We have also seen how companies honored as the World's Most Ethical respond to these challenges. They invest in their local communities around the world, embrace strategies of diversity and inclusion, and focus on the long term as a sustainable business advantage," said Timothy Erblich, Ethisphere's chief executive officer.

Deere & Company (www.JohnDeere.com) is a world leader in providing advanced products and services for customers whose work is linked to the land - those who cultivate, harvest, transform, enrich and build upon the land to meet the world's dramatically increasing need for food, fuel, shelter and infrastructure.
