MOLINE, Ill., Sept. 12, 2017 /CNW/ -- Deere & Company (NYSE: DE) announced today that it has completed its acquisition of Blue River Technology. Earlier in September, Deere said it signed a definitive agreement to purchase the Sunnyvale, California company to enhance John Deere's leadership position in precision agriculture.
Blue River has designed and integrated computer vision and machine learning technology that will enable growers to reduce the use of herbicides by spraying only where weeds are present, optimizing the use of inputs in farming – a key objective of precision agriculture. Machine learning technologies could eventually be applied to a wide range of Deere products.
Deere & Company (www.JohnDeere.com) is a world leader in providing advanced products and services and is committed to the success of customers whose work is linked to the land - those who cultivate, harvest, transform, enrich and build upon the land to meet the world's dramatically increasing need for food, fuel, shelter and infrastructure. Since 1837, John Deere has delivered innovative products of superior quality built on a tradition of integrity.
Blue River Technology (www.BlueRiverTechnology.com) is a pioneer in applying machine learning to help farmers optimize every plant in their fields. By providing equipment that can see and manage each plant, Blue River helps farmers reduce inputs, increase profitability and care for the land.
