Chevron Corp. said Thursday that its Pasadena, Texas, refinery had an operational disruption that led to excessive gas emissions.
In a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the refinery cited a "process upset that caused excess emissions from flares and process heaters."
Chevron said the emissions, including more than 2,000 pounds of sulfur dioxide, began Wednesday and ended Thursday, lasting just about 24 hours.
The 110,000-barrel-a-day refinery, which Chevron bought from Brazil's state-controlled Petroleo Brasileiro S/A about a year ago, is located in the Houston area.
