Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. said Tuesday that it would reopen its Northwest restaurants in the coming days after an E. coli outbreak led the chain to voluntarily shutter them.
Chipotle said health officials have found there is "no ongoing risk" from the outbreak. The company said it has replaced all ingredients in the 43 restaurants in its Portland, Ore., and Seattle markets. Chipotle said it tested fresh produce, raw meat and dairy before restocking the restaurants.
Last week, authorities identified the strain of E. coli in the outbreak and found it wasn't the most severe form of the bacteria. Dozens of people were sickened by the outbreak, which has been linked to 11 Chipotle restaurants.
Authorities haven't determined the source of the outbreak, but have said fresh produce was the likely culprit.
Chipotle shares, down 17% in the past month, added 1.8% in premarket trading.
