AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Feb. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BorgWarner (NYSE:BWA) TorqTransfer Systems has recently received distinguished awards from two leading Chinese OEMs: NAVECO and Great Wall Motor. The NAVECO 2006 Excellent Supplier Award recognizes product quality, customer service, and on-time delivery. One of 22 award winners chosen by NAVECO from its more than 300 suppliers, BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems Beijing has supplied all-wheel drive transfer cases for NAVECO's government and commercial vehicles since 2001. "We believe the customer-focused spirit of the Beijing team, along with our technology and commitment to on-time delivery, have led to this result," said Cindy Niekamp, President and General Manager, BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems. NAVECO, a joint venture established by Nanjing Automotive Corporation (NAC) and IVECO (a company of the Fiat Group), is a light and medium commercial vehicle and engine manufacturer based in China. "The 2006 Best Research and Development Award from Great Wall Motor is in recognition of TorqTransfer Systems Beijing's successful development of a part-time electric shift-on-fly (ESOF) transfer case to support Great Wall Motor's launch of the Hover SUV and Wingle Pickup," said Tom Tan, General Manager, TorqTransfer Systems Beijing. The new transfer case will also be utilized in Great Wall Motor's Safe SUV, Sine SUV, and Deer Pickup to continuously improve all-wheel drive performance. TorqTransfer Systems Beijing is one of only eight suppliers to win the award among Great Wall Motor's 500 suppliers. Great Wall Motor is the largest privately-owned automotive manufacturer in China, and the first privately-owned Chinese auto company listed in the Hong Kong Stock Market. "We are proud of this outstanding performance in China and believe these awards prove we are on the way to becoming China's leader in all-wheel drive solutions," said Cindy Niekamp. TorqTransfer Systems Beijing is a BorgWarner majority-owned joint venture with Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation (BAIC). The company currently serves customers such as NAVECO, Great Wall Motor, Zhengzhou Nissan, Beijing Benz, Huatai Motor, and Zhongxing Motor for their all-wheel drive systems.
