Bank of America Corp. said it signed agreements involving Duke Energy and Reliant, an NRG Energy Inc. company, that will supply renewable energy at its North Carolina and Texas operations.
Duke Energy will power the company's headquarters and other operations in Charlotte, N.C., with solar energy, Bank of America said. The bank's purchase of a 25-megawatt solar project's electricity output and renewable energy certificates, as part of its partnership with Duke Energy, will cover 45% of its electricity load in North Carolina, it said.
With Reliant, the bank said it will provide electricity from renewable sources to 345 Texas facilities, including offices, financial centers and ATMs. That amounts to 160,000 megawatt-hours of electricity annually, with the project to be located in west central Texas and expected to be in operation in mid-2022, it said.
